Question about Washing Machines

1 Answer

GE washer wnsr2100t5ww does everything but drain. I think i lost some stuffing from a small pillow and it is stuck in the pump or hose. Problem is I can't get the agitator off or the front panel. None of the suggestions I have read about helped. Is there a secret handshack or magic word?

Top load ge washers usually have clips at the top of the front panel about 2-3 inches in. a stiff putty knife and a small flashlight really help. use the flashlight to locate the clips( they are generally light green in color), push on themwith the putty knife while pulling out on the panel. my first suggestion though would be to bail out as much water as you can and set the washer out side, when you pull the pump hoses there will be water everywhere, and it will stink.

Pillow stuffing messed up my clothes washer. The water wouldn't empty and the spin cylce shuts off. I had this problem once before and the stuffing from the pillow had clogged up something... just not sure...

Your drain pump is more in likely plug..Is on the bottom of machine... You'll have to take a couple of hose clamps off to see inside pump...And you might have to clean it more than once...because all that stuffing is still inside machine..Make sure you unplug machine before working on it

I have a LTF2940ES3 and the water drains slowly and not completely. I get the error code E20 and I have already checked the exterior hose and it is not clogged. I washed a stuffed toy pillow and it tore...

There is a filter in the black hose that goes from the tub to the pump. It must be where the toy stuffing blocked the water from draining. Access the hose through the front bottom panel then remove it from the bottom of the tub to get the filter out and clean it.

Remove the two screws attaching the front bottom panel to the cabinet then slide the panel down and off the cabinet. Prop up the bottom front edge of the washer or cushion and lean it against the wall to access the screws more easily.

Loosen the clamp holding the tub-to-pump hose to the tub to remove it and take out filter. Clean the filter then reinstall it and the front bottom panel in reverse order of the removal steps.

The washer will agitate but won't rinse, or drain. It just makes a humming sound when it reaches that point of the cycle

Hi, I just got done fixing my washer for the same reason. It turns out my girlfriend washed a comforter that had a small tear in it. The stuffing from it clogged the water pump. Our washer is a top loader. I took off the front panel, disconnected the water pump, disconnected the hose clamps and pulled a big clumb of stuffing. If your machine still has water in it, you'll have to get a bucket and manually drain it. Make sure you have a lot of towels handy because you won't be able to manually drain the whole tub so when you disconnect the hose clamps the rest of the water will drain out. **Disclaimer** this was MY issue so I can't say you have the same exact problem.

Water does not drain from machine

Check these:
  • If your washer spins but does not pump the water out, the drain line is probably clogged. In many washers a small sock or other piece of clothing can get between the clothes tub and the outer tub that holds the water. If the clothing gets between the tubs, it may then get into the drain hose that is attached to the pump or even into the pump itself. It it's in the pump, you need to remove the hoses from the pump and pull the item out.
  • To remove the item from the outer tub port, open the washer's main access panel and remove the large diameter rubber hose that connects the pump to the bottom of the outer tub. Using a needle-nose pliers, try to grab and remove the stuck item through the port.

Waont drain

I would check the pump.
Follow the drain hose back to the pump, disconnect the outlet hose from the pump and disconnect the inlet hose from the pump. Look inside both hoses and the pump for pillow pieces.

The pump may have to be removed for cleaning, you should be able to turn the pump by hand, if not, replace the pump.

Inner tub.
Run some water in the washer with the inlet hose disconnected from the pump. You'll need a pan or bucket for the water to run into and look for pillow pieces.

Water Won't Drain from Washing Machine

Hello phylislw61,
If you had an incident where a pillow broke and feathers where dispersed throughout the washer..then there is a good chance that teh drain fiilter screen, pump or hose feeding the pump is clogged. I would verify that the filter is free from anything that would limit water flow from getting to the pump.. then if the problem is still there.. examine the pump itself to make sure it isn't clogged...
If you or someone in your family is reasonably handy, here is a link to your washing machines exploded view and parts and this should provide sufficient information for how to access the pump and associated hoses etc that feed into and out of it for cleaning..
If you are having problems after you verify the lines are free of restriction, feel free to contact me and I will try to assist you in solving your problem.. Here is the link..

Washer machine not draining water

The GE serviceman repaired my machine approximately 40 minutes. I paid $189 for the issue to be resolved in 5 minutes. This is no exaggeration.

The serviceman arrived at 2:50pm and finished at 2:55pm. It took another 5 minutes for me to write the check and he was gone.

My recommendation is...
- Purchase the GE service plan prior to calling GE to repair the service. A 1-Year service plan is $40 and 2-Year is $75. It costs $99 just for the serviceman to come to your house.

- Fix the issue yourself. Of course, this only applies if you are handy. I am handy and I tried to fix the problem myself. I just couldn't figure out the location of the access panel.

Solution...
The access panel is on the front. This can be removed in less than 20 seconds. The notches on the access panel is in line with the edging of the washing machine door. To remove, slide in a flat object like a flat-head screwdriver. Wiggle up and down on each side until door comes loose. Lift up door and set aside.

The water pump is on the lower right in the front of the washing machine. If your wash machine has any water in it, you want to use a shop vac to empty it out. The serviceman used a clamp to stop the water from running down. A little water still came out but he used my shop vac to get it up. It was less than a cup full and I had a 1/2 tub of water. Afterwards, he stuck his fingers in the water pump and pulled out the item that was blocking the pump.

Guess what was blocking the pump? The item was my two-month old daughter's sock. He recommends using a washing bag.

Remember this solution is for GE 315 model that is a top load washer. This will most likely work with similar models. I knew my water pump was still working because it hummed during the rinse and spin cycles.

Good luck and I hope this saves you $189 or any other fees.

There is a large hose that runs from the basin to the pump. I would recommend checking this hose from the pump to the basin.  It is probably plugged in there as well as in the pump inpellor.  look under the machine to find the pump.. White/clearish plastic with 2 large hoses running to it

Error code 20

i think your on the right track but a couple of things you need to know first that model washer wont spin tiny loads or one articles of clothing it has a device in the motor called a tacho generator to balance if you have only a small load it cant sense the balance and most of the time will only rock back and forth second your pump is the most likely culprit if you look in side the washer you will see a seem in the tub next to that will be one of the washer tumblers take the screws out of that tumbler slide it forward there will be a hole there rotate the tub to your right and you will find the hole going down to the drain pump can check it there but i don't think you'll find any thing as that is a larger hole it think your drain pump is now if you have a shop vac this is time to vacuum the water of the tub and all the way down the drain hole for the next stage usally i tell customers to remove the drain hose from the stand pipe and vacuum the water ou of the washer from the drain hose but because of the pillow this might not work in your case.now remove the two screws on the front lowerpanel and pull the panel
