Question about Waterway 5 Hp 230 Volt 2 Speed Side Discharge Spa / Hot Tub Pump 2" Plumbing # S50230

I am Replacing a pump motor and I'm not sure of the connections

I am Replacing a waterway executive Euro Pump 2 Speed 2hp 220-240V, 50Hz pump with an exact replacement, except the wiring is different!

On the old pump the electrical diagram shows four wires High Speed (Neutral), Low Speed (Neutral), High Speed (Phase) and Low Speed (phase).

The Low Speed (Phase) was not connected.
The colours connected were:
White - High Speed (Phase)
Red - High Speed (Neutral
Black - Low Speed (Neutral)

The new pump has connections for:
High Speed(Phase)
Neutral
Low Speed (Phase)

How should I connect it?

To be honest I'm struggling to understand your description of the wiring colours and without seeing the motor it's difficult to advise. I wouldn't want to give you advice and then you interpret it incorrectly as the consequences can be potentially fatal.

If you live anywhere near Lincolnshire please feel free to contact me and I'll be able to help you further.

Hi,
It sound like that's the 2.5" x 2" wet end.
Spa Parts Shop can help you, they also ship internationally.
You didn't mention a Horse Power. The motors HP is likely wrong listed so provide them with the amperage of your motor as well.

Hi , my executive 48 pump is leaking water at the shaft ...... is this some sort of bearing or seal problem ? thanks in advance for any help , andy dic

The pump seal is the problem and it can lead to bearing damage if not caught soon enough. The seal used in the waterway pump is not as easy as most seals to replace. You are better off to have it done at a pump repair shop or pool store than to tackle it yourself unless you are familiar with this seal and have the tools to fix it. A repair bill would likely be under $75 for a seal replacement at a shop and they can replace the bearings if necessary.

Thank you for posting your question here on Fixya.com.

There is a seal in there that a local pump repair shop can fix for about $30 - $50 with parts and labor. Waterway pumps use a 1000 seal that is not a seal the homeowner is usually successful at replacing themselves.

If this answer does not fix your problem, please comment with additional details prior to rating the answer. Positive feedback is appreciated once your problem is solved!
