Question about Televison & Video

Technical Assistance: I have a Diagonal 19 in. Proscan LCD HDTV. Model: 19LB30QD. I bought this new one because I had no remote control for my old one and couldn?t get it on channel 3. I auto scanned the channels, hooked up a Philip?s SDV2740/27 UHF/VHF/FM Amplified Indoor Antenna=6VDC- 100 mA The channels were clear when the antenna was positioned right, but even after scanning the channels again, all I can get is a black and white tweed. How can I fix this problem? I have spent a lot of money trying to get everyone?s TV working and ready for the change over, now I think it was all in vain. Should I turn the Proscan back in since I can?t get it working or is there some way to fix this problem? Thanks, Ann Buckholt

This has nothing to do with the DVD. All I can get is a black and white tweed, is talking about the TV screen. Getting it on channel 3 means : to get a channel for HDTV. I could not do this= Never mind. I don't think I can clear this up. I just need to get my TV programs working again since they changed over to HDTV and I don't think you will understander what I am trying to do. Thanks anyway.

It was my understanding that the HDTV was came with an installed converter box. I also have other TV’s that I have connected a converter box to and they still do not work. I also have connected them to the Philip Antenna= I auto scanned the channels, hooked up a Philip?s SDV2740/27 UHF/VHF/FM Amplified Indoor Antenna=6VDC- 100 mA. This was before they made the change. The channels were clear when the antenna was positioned right. Now after scanning the channels again, which I was directed to do, all I can get is a black and white tweed.

I believed the Proscan LCD HDTV. Model: 19LB30QD had this box inside the makings of the HDTV and was ready for the change............... ?????????????? Am I to go buy another BOX?

This is all very confusing and frusting.

I need to prepare for work tomorrow, so I will need to check for an answer tomorrow afternoon. I still see the black and white tweed TV screen and hope you can continue to help me get it in order.

    Thanks

Disassembly for this unit is very difficult. This model has bad caps on the FMT board but also on the DM and power board. I recommend getting a service center to send the whole chassis into Mits for a rebuild and get it all fixed. If you think you can do it yourself, you'll need 12 680uf caps for all 12 of the 1000uf that will dome (mushroom) up when they go bad, also two power caps 3300uf caps will go bad on the power board. The disassembly/instructions could likely fill a small book.

or
problem has to be somewhere between the last stages of the chassis and the engine. one of the ribbon cables is likely not seated all the way. it is very tricky to snap some of the ribbon cables into the connectors and still have them going through the ferrite beads. i would try reseating all the ribbon cables inside the chassis and hopefully this will fix the issue. if you cannot get menu, the problem could be engine related. the big DVI like cable is where all the picture runs from the chassis to the engine. check this cable for good connection and no bent pins. I believe sometimes other caps on the power supply can go bad causing engine voltages to drop low and give grid pattern symptoms.

Do u have a digital to anaolog signal converter box? this has nothing to do with HDTV, just to get over the air channels from your antenna you need a converter box, if u don't have a converter box this is the problem. here is a link to get a a converter to make your antenna work again.

OK you are right the TV has a built in digital receiver, but u must make sure that the tv is set to receive the correct type of signal, go to menu options and make sure that u have the TV set up right.

    Sorry for the mis-information.

Hi,
If you have DVD Recorder that has inbuilt tuner then hook up dvd recorder with TV via AV lead and put antenna in dvd recorder input, tune all digital channels in dvd recorder and watch them in TV.
Its cost saving and quick solution for digital change.
Thanks.

There is one on the remote control. If you lose of damage the remote for a set sometimes that is the only way to get to those settings. Look on the remote control for the menu button.

My 16 year old son found a Proscan 19LB30QD on the side of the road (good old country living) anyway, it has not plugs, it is probably broke, but we thought we'd give it a try and see if it works. ...

Do you mean that the unit has no power cord or is the TV missing the input board from the side? Sears Parts Direct has parts for the Proscan 19LB30QD here: http://www.searspartsdirect.com/partsdirect/part-model/Proscan-Parts/Television-Parts/Model-19LB30QD/3027/0333300/50036238/00001?blt=06&prst=0&shdMod=19LB30QD . The AC cable is PART NUMBER: E080515H00 for $27. There is also an adapter, PART NUMBER: E075WDN1, for $26.79. The input board is part 6 on the diagram (main board).

Other cords will depend on what you want to connect to the TV. There is 1 HDMI port for connecting a set top box, component, composite and S-video jacks (for other set top boxes), a VGA port and a coaxial (antenna jack). Manage My Life has the manual here: http://www.managemylife.com/mmh/owner_manuals/19678/PROSCAN-TV-VCR-or-DVD-Combo-L0807673?brand_name_search=fall+back .

I hope this helps.

Proscan model number 19lb30qd, DVD will not play, lens has been cleaned. Are there replacement DVD players available?

judging on your brand of tv i wouldnt suggest pursuing a fix the cost could be close in comparison with a new tv if your ok with it buy a good quality dvd player to run into the tv im sure you would be happier than spending a pile of money only to end up back where you were ok hope this helps
