Vcr tape catches in machine

3 month old machine - turn on machine, insert VCR, machine turns off. Turn machine back on, VCR ejected, often with tape caught inside. Same thing happens if machine isn't stopped first before fast forwarding or rewinding.

SOURCE: Magnavox ZV427MG9 DVD Recorder VCR Combo plays vcr for about 5 second then stops and shut off, when turned back on it ejects the tape.

This combo has a problem with the vcr unit which take up wheel will stop working and spill the tape. the unit will stop and eject the tape. You have to replace the whole vcr assembly.

SOURCE: The VCR accepts the tape and starts to play; then stops and shuts off; when you turn the power back on the tape ejects

You have a transport problem, the mechanism the plays, FF or rewinds is not working.

Someone is going to have to open and look at the unit---as simple as a belt off or broken to the idler (rubber or geared) that doe the actual work, finding a shop that will work on a VCR unit is getting hard as most of the current techs have never seen this type of unit.

What I used to do when I opened one was have a old cassette with the tape removed! but the reels inside of it still there--tape off both sides of the cassette where it opens so the sensors on either side do not try to stop the unit from allowing this.

This way with the unit open and the dummy cassette in you can see thru its top to see if the reels are moving or not and not have the tape get in the way.

Is your VCR fixed?
From what you have written, I understand that you have not used the VCR for many months. And since you are hearing a whirring noise, the eject motor is working, but the belts are spoilt, and are slipping. Hence your problem. I suggest you open the top cover of the VCR and observe the eject mechanism. As suggested, you will - in all likelihood, observe that the belt driving the eject gears is slipping.

It sounds like the tape is jammed in the vcr, remove the top cover of the machine this will expose the tape. If the tape is spewed in the mechanical section and around the video head, get a pair of scissors and start cutting the tape and carefully remove all tape particles, when all tape debris has been removed, plug in vcr turn on and eject. If the tape looks good, you may have a loading basket problem, bad idler ***. or broken drive belt. "Lets hope for the best"

Aiwa HV-MX1: tape won't eject from VCR and it switches off.

Turn over the VCR. Unscrew the base. You will see the 3 belts. Turn the rightmost belt clockwise or anticlockwise (don't remember) but you will see the tape hold mechanism moving down. Once it is all the way down, you can eject the tape out.

You may need to replace one or all 3 belts. This is being caused by belts being loose.

hope this helps.

Keeps going to "err" and shuts down when I insert tape

Hi. your VCR is experiencing a major mechanism fault within the head assembly. the head is unable to read the tape. in this case, you will need to replace the main head assembly in this unit.

VCR ejects blank tape only

It sounds like the cassette is not releasing the tape so the machine can put it around the heads. This could damage the machine. Don't use it. A two dollar tape is not worth damaging your vcr. Throw it away.

Tape stuck in VCR, won't eject.

you posted 2 different problems here...
to answer this one ". The tape is stuck, won't eject and I'd like to get it out without damaging the VCR unit."...open unit, find motor that moves tape ejector and spin that motor by hand (power off)

the other problem, "the VCR will not insert a tape. It keeps rejecting it."...open unit and fully turn ejection motor until home position is reached...this is a home sensor switch not being activated.
