Zx12r overheating the bike is overheating, into the red within 5km of distance, changed the oil and the coolant and still same problem

If the thermostat were left out it would take longer for any overheating to come about. No actual harm to the engine would happen. The idea behind a thermostat is to keep the motor running at an optimum temperature for best performance. The switch controlling the fan is on the left back side of the radiator. Only one thermoswitch is available ($70). The current switch could be bad and coming on too late. Remove it and clean any buildup on the sensor end. The switch is not adjustable. Hooking up a switch for the fan is not going to hurt anything but the bike was designed to cool properly without it. There is no bleeding of the system.



Have you considered pressure checking the system? It operates under pressure. A pressure leak at the radiator cap would cause an overheat problem. Is the coolant 50-50 antifreeze and water? Yeah, I forgot to mention a couple of things in my list of possible sources. That's what I get for growing old.
