We have a Duo-Therm 590 quick cool unit on our RV. I noticed the 1st time down this year that it sounded like the compressor was struggling when it ran and it kicked the breaker at the main where the rv plugs in. Last week when we were at the trailer I could hear the compressor slow down and speed up, again it sounded like it was struggling, then it kicked the breaker inside the trailer. Someone told me it sounded like the compressor was going to fail, I also heard maybe it was low on freon, I'm thinking some kind of electrical problem. Any ideas??

I have a Dometic P/N Duo-Therm Model #59516-531 that started running more and more to cool my RV 5th wheel. I checked filter, drain, and noticed the unit was icing up. I turned off AC and let fan run to...

It is probably low on refrigerant. You can only check this if you have a set of gauges. Otherwise, take it to an air cond company and they will check it for you.

Rooftop a/c not cooling as well as it used to.

How old is this unit? In the Duo-Therm Brisk Air Models, they were notorious for a small leak in the capillary tube that runs into the evaporator part of the AC. There are two small tubes that are run together, take the top off of the evaporator coil and pull the lines apart gently. Look for noticeable signs of leaking in the area. If the lines have been looking or look like they have rubbed together for an extended period of time, you need to have someone replace the lines or buy a new air conditioner. I would price both before committing to either one. Hope this helps.

Duo-therm quick cool

Your compressor is trying to restart after it shuts off which is causing a power draw down changing the sound of the fan speed change. Check voltage power supply and insure that the power supply cord is heavy enough to carry the necessary load.
