SOURCE: when temp is set on hot water--hot water shuts off & cold water comes out

In the machine, you have a solenoid that the water hoses come into. That piece is controlled by a timer. The hot water during the cycle, does it shut off completely during fill or intermittent?

SOURCE: no cold water coming into machine

Follow the cold water line inside the washer where it connects to a 'Fill Valve' which is a valve/solenoid. Using an electrical test meter check the two wires at the solenoid for 110 volts when the machine is calling for cold water. If there is voltage but no cold water the valve is most likely bad. You may also want to pull the hose to make sure you have water running through the hose from the spigot. With the hose off at the valve look to see if there is a screen at the valve that might be clogged.

SOURCE: cold water not coming in the washer, only hot

Does the cold water actually flow from the tap when you turn it on? Sometimes plumbers mess up. Otherwise, you've probably got a bad switch, or possibly a bad timer.

Why does cold water mix with the hot when the switch is set on hot

Depending on the age of the unit you may be looking at a faulty switch. Sometimes the contacts for the cold water solonoid on the switch may be fused shut and therefore you will always get cold water no mater what you select. If hot water is what you need the easy way to do this is select hot water and close the tap for the cold water until needed again. Hope this helps

This seems to me to be that the hoses are connected backwards. It matters very much which hose is connected to which inlet. Make sure that the hoses are on Hot to "H" and Cold to "C" on the machine.

Hot water comes out cold side for few seconds and gets cold, no hot from hot side, only cold

Make sure that the water pipes for the cold water coming in and the hot water going out are connected to the correct positions on the water heater. If the connections get reversed, the water that is supposed to be hot will be drawn from the bottom of the tank and will not be as hot as it should be. The cold water input goes to the bottom of the tank. The hot water out comes from the top of the tank.

Cannot get cold water to come into the washer

Turn off the water and reverse the hot and cold water connections going into the faucet, then turn the water back on. If only cold water comes out of the unit when on hot temperature then you need to order a water valve solenoid which I suspect is the problem or wash only in cold water. They are replaced by removing the back washer panel a couple of bolts, one connector, and two hose clamps. Remember to restore the hot and cold water connections.
