Most likely the front drum bearing part number 5303937139 needs to be replaced. Instructions come with the kit.

SOURCE: dryer is leaving black marks on cloths.

I have the same problem. We think it is because the barrel is out of balance and the clothes are getting stuck between the barrel and the housingand the grease is causing the black marks. But I dont know how to fix that.

The belt around the drum has come off or broke. The front of your dryer will have to come off to inspect

SOURCE: Dryer leaving black marks on clothes

Sounds like the drum rollers are shot and/or the drum bearing is shot. I believe this dryer also has a front bearing ring that might be bad.

If the drum is tilted because of either or both of these things, clothes can get pinched between the spinning drum and the stationary surrounding areas, resulting in streaks.

As for whether it is worth having someone fix it, prices vary greatly from one repair company to the next.

Dryers are probably the easiest appliances to repair by a do-it-yourselfer. Here is a slideshow on how to open the dryer up if you want to try to fix it yourself:

There are many online parts stores to check prices of these parts.I have found that repairclinic.com is the best place for do it yourselfers.

Kenmore 500 series dryer is eating clothes, clunking and leaving black marks. Clothers are getting stuck in the drum in back of dryer. Any suggestions?

It sounds that the rollers a roller went bad and or the front/rear seal now has seperated, your drum now misaligned. Depending on model.

Dryer drys great. is leaving black marks on clothes

Are the black marks a result of an ink stain in the drum or is the black marks coming for the dryer seal?

If they are coming from an ink stain then alcohol or hair spray with paper towels will normally get them off the drum.

If the black marks are coming from the seal, that means that the seal is not positioned correctly and would require that the dryer be disassebled and a new seal be installed.

Clothes get tuck on the front edge and discolors

it most probably needs to have the felt cushion on the front of the drum replaced.

was a pen or crayon placed in the machine by mistake ? You will need to
remove the residue, use rubbing alcohol on a rag for marker or pen ink , crayon use a razor scraper and then clenser and scrunge pad.

The dryer is squealing and leaving burn marks on the clothes

Squeak is caused by a worn out roller rolling metal to metal - Most dryers have rollers, felts and drum slides to balance drum rotation:
When rollers wear off, black powder leaks to rear felts and black marks are left on clothes.
Same thing happens when drum slides wear off (black marks are left on clothes)

Kenmore 80 Series Washer/Dryer

I HAVE SEEN MOST MARKS COMING FROM THE DRYERS. AS THEY AGE, THE FELT AIR SEALS ON THE DRUM DETERIORATE AND THE CLOTHES GET PINCHED BETWEEN THE DRUM AND THE BULKHEAD AT THE REAR OF THE DRUM. OTHERWISE CHECK THE HOLES IN THE WASHER TUB IF YOU HAVE A PORCALIN ON STEEL TUB IN THE WASHER.
