soft pedal usually indicates air in the system. when you put it all back together and applied the brakes did you check to see if the brake fluid in the master cylinder was topped up with brake fluid ?. it would appear that the system needs to be bled. check for leaks as well and it is possible you may have damaged the pistons in the calipers when you pushed them in to make room for the pads.
two reasons :
1> your mouse is extra sensitive, go to control pannels and then mouse and lessen the speen of ur pointer.
2> you're using some cloth or some soft area as ur mouse pad, such things slip easily, try using a proper MOUSE PAD
