a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

SOURCE: cant get dvd to work
Hi, Do a hard reset. Unplug the unit for a couple of hours. Most current models will reset to default condition this way. If this does not correct the fault, pls post back with the brand/model/version of your unit. Good luck and kind regards.

This unit has had a problem with the mainboard of the television. This is the board that controls all the televisions functions. The problem you are having is with the tuner section of the mainboard, this problem may be a with cold solder joints from heat expansion or it could be a problem with component failure. The unit should be taken or sent in to a service center for a complete testing and service. The element customer support telephone number is 1-888-935-8880. The customer support website is http://www.elementelectronics.com/support.html Just tell them the model number of you television and the problem you are having with the tuner. They will be able to help you find a service center to take your television to for repair. I hope this information helps you with your problem.

If the tv isn't fully shutting down. but just flashing on and off then it
sounds like a backlight supply fault.
All LCD screens have what can only be described as micro flouro lights inside the screen module.
it is possible that the power supply is faulty causing them to flash on and off every now and then. or the tubes themselves are damaged.
to confirm this..
Lay the tv down flat on its back and power up in a well lit room
get down close to the screen and look across it at a acute angle
now if the black screen looks like it is still displaying an image then it's definatley your backlights!
in which case it could be a simple fault in the power supply.
so if your feeling confident in yourself i can talk you through what to look for in the supply..but try this first and get back to me.
hope this helps,ben :-)
