Re: Troy 8150 Printer

Yes I beleive you do need the -P

I use this on a HP 8150 I think it is Aust.version of you machine from the look of it

lpr -S -P raw -o c:\temp\

Getting print q name
Press Menu until INFORMATION MENU appears on the printer display.
2. Press Item until PRINT CONFIGURATION appears on the panel.
3. Press Select to print out a configuration page

2nd page should be listed your print que name

or maybe just type the ip address of printer in browser and look in printers webpage.

Sorry for sketchy answer just trying to help!!

How can I upload the logolab.bmp from linux to the datamax I-4208 printer?

Assuming you want to print the file use the command "lpr" This is the only protocol used by this printer anyway.
If you have root access to the printer you can use "lp" but otherwise use "lpr"

command line usage:

"$ lpr logolab.bmp" please let me know if this helped or if I can clarify more.Joe

The status for the Canon MX870 goes to offline without me doing anything and then I have to turn it off and on to get it back online. Is there a way to keep it from going offline or turn the feature (???)...

Just check this. Go to the Printer and Faxes window in the Control Panel. (whether you are running XP, Vista or Windows Start, look for Control Panel then Printers and Faxes). Look for the printer icon for the Canon MX870. Right click the icon and you will get a little menu. If you see an option that reads: "Use Printer Online" select that. This is typically the problem. If you see an option that reads "Use Printer Offline"...don't do anything with this option and there is some other cause of your problem.

PSC 2175 wont work with print server

Please make sure that the printer is working okay if directlysd connected to the MAC computer. You may try this as well. hope this helps

LPR (line printer remote) is a platform independent printing protocol that is associate with TCP/IP. It works by using LPR client software that communicates to a server running LPR services.

In terms of PSU, LPR printing will become the basis for all network printing while Novell print queues are phased out. Therefore, all Macintosh, Windows, and Unix computers will be configured to print through LPR.

· The name of LPR print queue. This can be found by searching the LPR printer database.

· LaserWriter print drivers version 8.5.1 or newer

· The Macintosh must have a working TCP/IP networking configuration. (If the Mac can browse the web then it's working.)

· a server running LPR services or a printer that supports LPR printing. Most HP LaserJet printers support LPR. However, only the following LaserWriters support LPR printing:

- LaserWriter 8500
- LaserWriter 16/600 PS
- LaserWriter 12/640 PS
- Color LaserWriter 12/600 PS
- Color LaserWriter 12/660 PS Procedure

1.Open up the Applications folder from the OS X menu.
2.Open up the Utilities folder
3.Now open up the Print Center
4.If you have no printers installed you will see the following screen. Click on Add.
5.On the following screen, select LPR printing.
6.Now enter for the LPR Printer's address.
7.Uncheck Use Default Queue on Server option and enter the queue name of the printer.
8.Select the printer model.
9.The completed settings should be similar to the following:
(LPR Printer’s address is the ip of our PRINTSERVER)
10.Click on Add
11.Your printer has successfully been installed. Test the printer by printing something to it.

No access to the properties of the DP 8035 Panasonic running as an network printer on a MS SB Serversystem. Just the message: Spoolerservice is not running. I restarted the server, the Panansonic, the...

if driver is set up with a TCP/IP port reconfigured to LPR i suggest you try setting up a direct LPR port. you may need to add other network and file services through add or remove windows components, in add remove programes before you get the option in ports within your driver for a direct LPR port.
Hope this helps

Posted by rhung33 on Jan 16, 2009 Under Window DOS prompt and Unix Sun Solaris 8 Station , using LPR -p command to print txt file to cause Lexmark T644 printer '' Flushing buffer '' and...

The printer can't handle the data it received and flush it out of its buffer. Goto Menu->Settings->Postscript Settings and turn "Print PostScript Erro" on. When the same print job prints, you should get a page printed out telling you what the printer doesn't like. You may also want to try forcing the printer into Postscript mode. Your PS file probably contains a PJL to set the device to PS mode before it prints. When the printer expects PCL data and received PS data(or vise versa), you can get this behaviour

Printing from Dos Prompt

1. Save your text file (.txt).

2. On the command prompt navigate to that directory

3.Type "Lpr -S -P lp text.txt"

Substitute for your copier's ip

Substitute text.txt to filename.

Or you can: to print from MS-DOS apps.

1. Share the printer on a networked windows computer. Make sure you make the name MS-DOS compatible.

2. At a DOS prompt, type the following command:
"net use lpt1: \\servername\printer_share/persistent:yes"

NOTE Servername=computer name
