did you format the card after putting it in the recorder?
use toggle switch (the scrolling wheel on the right side) to scroll till you find sd card on the menu
push in on toggle switch to select it when you have sd card on the screen
when you do that you'll see 2 choices remain or format
select format then press in on toggle switch
you will be asked if you're sure you want to format the sd card
the manual said it is important to format your card in the recorder
hope this helps
Most likely you got a hot copy of the maps and it worked fine for a few minutes in the new unit. Check the course of the map because they know if they are purchased new or are being copied. Not saying you did anything wrong just saying the SD card can only be used for one unit. Contact the company and they will set you straight.
Normally there shouldn't be a problem taking maps off of an SD card. The only time that a Garmin unit will put lock codes on maps located on an SD card is if the maps were purchased and already unlocked on another unit. If someone tries to then use those maps on a different unit the Garmin system will check to see if they have been accessed already. If they have then the unit locks them out. The only other thing that may be going on is that someone else put a password on the maps. If that is the case then you will have to get that person to give you the code.
Which firmware do you have? It should say on the screen when you turn it on. If it 1.10, or 1.0, you need to update the firmware by going to the Zoom support page:
Directions and firmware download is all there.
If you are already on 2.0 or 2.4, then try reformatting the card with the Zoom. This will delete anything on the card, so backup first!! Good luck.
