Question about Rival Crock Pots & Slow Cookers

Model 38601C rival crockpot I don't exactly know if safe and use

I purchased one of these and the first time I used everything burnt on low after 2 hours. After numerous calls and aggravation they sent a replacement. I have read all the customer complaints about handles falling off etc. and am now afraid to use. Today I remade the Meatball recipe which says cook 6 to 8 hours on low. The settings are 8 or 10low or 4 to 6 high. At 9:00am I started and it is now 3:00 pm. If I leave in on for 8 hours will it all burn?It is on low. How long can I cook a roast beef approx. 4 to 5 lbs with potatoes and how? Please help I am becoming very nervous over this. I had a small one only a few pounds and had no problem. their pamhlet says if it says 7 to 9 put it on 8. How do I figure cooking on high and what can be? Thanks a lot your help will be appreciated..

Your crockpot heat unit is overheating. Return it to the store you purchased it at or contact the manufacturer. My Rival did that and I contacted the company and they sent me a new one.

Sadly, these units are built for low end use and replacement parts are rarely available. Try shopping your local thrift shops for something close, although whatever you buy, make sure it is heat safe.
