Aiptek AHD 100 720P camcorder not working on pc

I have a Aiptek AHD 100 720P camcorder. It works fine until I link it with my computer. With the memory card in, the autoplay window comes up and nothing else (just keeps searching) but won't let me do anything else. If I take the card out and connect to the pc, the DCIM folder comes up, then the 100 media file and finally, a video file. However, double click on that and computer freezes as well. Any ideas?

    Thank you for replying.

My pc has windows XP SP2.

My camcorder is not supposed to need a driver according to the website. When I coonect, it indicates that the software is loaded and ready to go but the problem still occurs.

I tried it on another pc and it worked. The found new hardware wizard started but I cancelled it and then the computer automatically recognised the camcorder and allowed me to access the files stored on it. This is where mine gets stuck I think. On the camcorder I have about 5 files and when testing on an alternative pc it found them all and allowed me to play them. On mine it either does not open the file and freezes or if I ever do get the main file open it only shows one video file. The computer freezes until i unplug the USB connection.

I have several times but get the same problem. When I try and delete it, it freezes, I unplug camera, it unfreeezes (but camera deleted), reboot and then same all over again.

the camcorder is using a generic camera driver, but that what's causing the problem.

That paricular camera does require a driver, I know because I write hardware drivers for various suppliers and that one is using a generic driver which can be buggy. It is poosible to try it on another PC ? I would be very interested to see whether it works, Regards GeWiz

Have you gone into the Device Manager and deleted the camera found ? then rebooted then connect the camera.

ok that sounds like the generic driver that it loading is causing the problem , goto another PC, install the camera and make a note of the driver loaded and version info,

Now go back to you machine and check the driver loaded, if it's the same I would say the driver is corrupted or driver entries within the registery are corrupted, delete the driverfile within the system32 folder or wherever it located and delete out of device manager and reboot,

now here the trickly bit, if it a different to the other machine tell it to look in the location of the other driver , , if the driver has been deleted most likely it will ask you to insert the OS disk, this will solve the problem with the corrupted driver file,

    I hope that makes sense.

Try to run by installing the driver software of your camcorder. The searching do not find out because the computer do not know about the hardware. after installing the driver software, than only you can suceed..............and you can get the driver from any of the download website...... have a nice day :-)

Will not recognize 16 GB SDHC Card - Help Please

I had a literally terrifying experience with Aiptek customer service.

I called up Aiptek to ask if it was possible to get my memory cards working. I have two 4GB SDHC PNY cards, which th ekid at target reccomended after loking at the back of the box.

I was told by aiptek tech support that PNY cards will not work in the A-HD camera.

When I mentioned that the box says it will take cards up to 32GB, and asked him if this was not false advertising. The representative became irate and started insulting me, using valgure language, and calling me a liar.

At this point I had enough of his abuse and yelled at him F.U!

What happened next is Truly Absurd and Outrageous!

The man behind the telephone at Aiptek told me he was going to send 5 guys to my house to assult me and my fammily!
THIS IS NO JOKE!
