That paricular camera does require a driver, I know because I write hardware drivers for various suppliers and that one is using a generic driver which can be buggy.
It is poosible to try it on another PC ? I would be very interested to see whether it works,

- Have you gone into the Device Manager and deleted the camera found ? then rebooted then connect the camera.Jun 24, 2009
- ok that sounds like the generic driver that it loading is causing the problem , goto another PC, install the camera and make a note of the driver loaded and version info,
Now go back to you machine and check the driver loaded, if it's the same I would say the driver is corrupted or driver entries within the registery are corrupted, delete the driverfile within the system32 folder or wherever it located and delete out of device manager and reboot,
now here the trickly bit, if it a different to the other machine tell it to look in the location of the other driver , , if the driver has been deleted most likely it will ask you to insert the OS disk, this will solve the problem with the corrupted driver file,
