Meaning what, exactly?

If you want a decimal representation of an exact number, press the SD key to switch from exact to approximate (decimal). If you want to expand a decimal number in powers of 10, separate all the digits, multiply every digit by a power of 10 with exponent equal to its position as counted from the decimal mark -1. To the left of the decimal mark, the exponent is positive. To the right of the decimal mark, the exponent is negative. Sum everything

Example

345.678 =3*10^(3-1)+4*10^(2-1)+5*10^(1-1)+6*10(-1)+7*10^(-2)+8*10^(-3)

7 equals 0.583 decimal of a foot

Dec 04, 2014 | Miscellaneous

To calculate cubic feet you take length (in feet) x width (in feet) x height (in feet). You have 1 (foot) x 1 (foot), which equals 1, but to finish the calculation you need to convert the 2 inches into a decimal equivalent (fraction) of a foot.

So take 1' divided by 12" = 0**.**083

That means 1 inch is 0**.**083 of a foot.

So take the desired inches (2 in your case) and multiply times 0**.**083 which = 0**.**166

So in your example, (12" x 12" x 2") = 1 x 1 x 0**.**166 = **0.166 cubic foot**

So take 1' divided by 12" = 0

That means 1 inch is 0

So take the desired inches (2 in your case) and multiply times 0

So in your example, (12" x 12" x 2") = 1 x 1 x 0

### How to convert percent to fraction

1% = 1/100

So in order to convert percent to fraction, divide the percent by 100% and reduce the fraction.

For example 56% is equal to 56/100 with gcd=4 is equal to 14/25:

56% = 56/100 = 14/25

- Divide the percent by 100 to get decimal number.
- Count the number of digits (d) to the right of the decimal point of the decimal number.Example: 2.56 has 2 digits to the right of the decimal point, so d=2.
- Calculate the factor (f) for making the decimal number an integer:
*f*= 10*to power d*

Example:

*f*= 10 power 2 = 100

- Multiply and divide the decimal number x by the factor f:
*x***f*/*f*=*y*/*f*

Example:

2.56 * 100 / 100 = 256 / 100

- Find the greatest common divisor (gcd) of the fraction.
Example:

gcd(256,100) = 4

- Reduce the fraction by dividing the numerator and denominator by the gcd value:
Example:

256 / 100 = (256/4) / (100/4) = 64/25

1% = 1/100

So in order to convert percent to fraction, divide the percent by 100% and reduce the fraction.

For example 56% is equal to 56/100 with gcd=4 is equal to 14/25:

56% = 56/100 = 14/25

Hard drive manufacturers market drives in terms of decimal (base 10) capacity. In decimal notation, one megabyte (MB) is equal to 1,000,000 bytes, one gigabyte (GB) is equal to 1,000,000,000 bytes, and one terabyte (TB) is equal to 1,000,000,000,000 bytes.

Programs such as FDISK, system BIOS, Windows, and MacOS use the binary (base 2) numbering system. In the binary numbering system, one megabyte is equal to 1,048,576 bytes, one gigabyte is equal to 1,073,741,824 bytes, and one terabyte is equal to 1,099,511,627,776 bytes.

**Simply put, decimal and binary translates to the same amount of storage capacity.** Let's say you wanted to measure the distance from point A to point B. The distance from A to B is 1 kilometer or .621 miles. It is the same distance, but it is reported differently due to the measurement.

**Capacity Calculation Formula**

**Decimal capacity / 1,048,576 = Binary MB capacity** **Decimal capacity / 1,073,741,824 = Binary GB capacityDecimal capacity / 1,099,511,627,776 = Decimal TB capacity**

**Example:**

A 500 GB hard drive is approximately 500,000,000,000 bytes (500 x 1,000,000,000).

500,000,000,000 / 1,048,576 = 476,837 megabytes (MB) = 465 gigabytes (GB)
