Please, don't let anyone fool you in believing that HP, IBM or other bigies design and manufacture their own Mother-Boards. For as far back as I can tell HP used ASUS exclussively for all their desktops. The market on the laptops is more aggressive and one can see various fabricators. Now the big secret, but I would like to say someting before it. Somehow people get enchanted with things like CPU ("the brain" ha!ha!ha!), the BIOS, the RAM Memory. The manufacturers always tried to keep people away of places that were not for their fingers. In essence what I want to say is that I will not take responsibility for a bunch of teenagers scrounging within the MB, which may be new and under warranty, just bought and paid by papa. It is for this reason that the various manufacturers have hidden all printed information. Now the classical companies they hide the MB ID in between the white PCI sockets. For the expert, it can be recognized easily. Since this became a common secret, some of the manufacturers placed the ID around the RAM memory sockets. I am sorry but this information is given only on an "as required" need. I have been on this things for a few days and I cry with tears for those irresponsible that butcher up Mother Boards. I can safely say that about 90% of the mother boards had no damage until the "damager" got into it.

SOURCE: HP DV9000 motherboard replacement

Motherboards are part number specific. Please make sure that the part number you order matches the part number of the Motherboard you are replacing
I think I would use the exact one called for.

HP DV9000 won't boot up past the HP splash screen, can't enter bios or access boot menu. It just keeps starting over, freezing, then starting over again.

Hi,
I think your hard drive has failed. It keeps searching for the boot sector. The boot sector is broken so the hard drive keep starting over to search for it.
