Question about Canon PowerShot S230 / IXUS 179 Digital Camera
I have a Canon PowerShot S1 IS. I happened to drop it on floor (in my defence, on a soft floor :-)).
Now it does not work anymore. When i switch it on, it shows the blank screen. If I take a photo, it captures the image but all blank (black). So basically I can’t take any photos anymore.
Has anybody faced such problem; any remedies?
Additional Information: All other functions like erase, etc. do work well and appear properly on the screen. I also can see the Canon logo when i turn on the camera. I guess that means that the LCD display is working properly.
For Ravi, this definitely sounds like it might be a defective CCD imager. If so, Canon should fix this for you for free, including free shipping both ways. This is regardless of your camera's warranty status. Please check the following two links for more info:
Applicable cameras include:
A40, A60, A70, A75, A80, A85, A95, A300, A310, S1 IS, S60, S200, S230, S330, S400, S410, S500, SD100, SD110
By the way, don't tell Canon that you dropped the camera. Sounds like the CCD imager was about to go bad anyway, and the drop just accelerated this.
