Here and here and here and here are links to HP support options for your notebook, and here's a general startup troubleshooter that may also help you to diagnose the error, and a somewhat dated but excellent reference to the boot troubleshooter here. If you get any specific error codes or messages, search those as well, or reply and we'll be happy to help you troubleshoot it...
There is frequently much you can do yourself, by carefully searching the net for info and deliberating before you dive in and attempt to make repairs. Patience and logic are paramount, but you may well be able to determine the likely problem and/or repair it yourself, if you take the time to diagnose the problem and make sure the solutions you undertake are well thought out and not harmful in and of themselves...

I hope this information allows you to resolve this issue. If you need further assistance, please post back with a comment to this thread.
If I've managed to answer your question or solve a problem, please take just a moment to rate this post....thanks!

If the problem is from the power button.. check the power button. if powering its means not power button problem.. and also check the cpu fan if working or not... open you laptop if you can't bring to the shooroom or call qualified laptop technician to check you laptop..

Compaq 6820s freeze after few minutes

load a program called coretemp (you may download this on another computer on to a USB stick, transfer the stick and then run it from the flash drive). Are the temperatures near to the Tjmax value ? if so this may be why your computer is freezing after a while. It is probably clogged with dust. Clean it out (search the internet on how to do this)
Another reason may be because you are using too much memory cut down on the number od programs/internet tabs you have open.
Try restoring (system restore) back to point before this started happening
Try updating BIOS to latest version, and also graphics drivers if applicable
Finally it may be that your system board has become defective: some say its a problem with the southbridge chipset (may be overheating: this is still my favourite hypothesis)

When I went to shut it down it had a few programs to shut down. I waited a few minutes then closed the lid down. It is now flashing on the first light symbol on the corner and when you open it up it turns...

Sounds like it is stuck in hibernate mode. Hold the power button down for 5 seconds and try to start it again. If it doesn't start remove the battery, unplug the laptop, hold the power button down for 60 seconds. Now plug in the power supply but leave the battery out. Turn it on. It should start now and you can re-insert the battery.

If you right hand mouse click on your desktop picture, a menu will become available. Click on Screen resolution and then Advanced settings. There will be options inside that window to allow you adjustment of the display.
Hope that helps.

When I shut down it reemained with shutting Down

No problem, possibly due to null pointer allocation to shutdown thread. Just switch the notebook off using the power button, restart & select start windows normally.

My Hp Compaq 6820s don't start when I press power button.

This simply means that the battery is dead. Pull the battery out and try to start it again (with the power adapter plugged in obviously). If it starts up, you need a new battery, if it does not start up you may have a bad power adapter or broken power jack.

Replace worn touchpad buttons HP compaq 6820s

It's better and easier to just replace the whole touch pad assembly and top cover. It's all one piece...much easier and cost is the same.
