If it is blowing air, then it is still clogged up somewhere, you didn't give your model number, but some of these have removable covers on each side and on the back. Also make sure that all covers are back on securely.

My vacuum blows air instead

My vacuum blows air instead of sucking air. I have a dirt devil swivel guide. I got something stuck in the brush spinner, got it out...but now the vacuum doesn’t **** stuff up anymore.
I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure.
Normally if your vacuum has a round belt you may have your belt on backwards, please reverse the belt and the suction will return also you may have a clog in the tube leading up to the bag or dirt cup would be anther reason for the blowing instead of suction. This is not covered under the factory warranty. Feel free to contact your local vacuum dealer for questions.
So if you need further assistance, please feel free to contact your local vacuum cleaner dealer in your area or in the yellow pages, or contact the factory phone number or website to further assist you with your questions.
For help with a model that is not working, if you want to check an order, if you need help finding a part or service center or have any other comment, complaint or question that is not a technical question about this web site use the link above. Remove the bag on top and the plate on the bottom. Clean out the air passages, top and bottom, looking for a clog. When it seems clear, turn on the vacuum to see if air is moving through. Don't allow a full bag to remain in place Check the brush on the bottom for string, hair, or thread caught in the bristles or bearings on either end. Hope this helps!
