SOURCE: thihl HL75 hedge trimmer engine will not run at full speed

Remove the cutting attachment, insert a screwdriver in to the shaft receptor and it should operate smooth with a slight bit of friction. if not then check the blade bolts and make sure the blades move freely. Lubricate the blades and the gearbox regularly. If the attachment end is good then turn the driveshaft by hand (with attachment still off shaft). If this too moves freely then go to the clutch.

SOURCE: Ryobi 18V Hedge Trimmer Blade Question

Just buy a file and push 3 or 4 down strokes down the same slope of the cutter toward the sharp edge. Never file on the flat top of the cutter, only on the slope. Support the frame using a saw horse or pick-up bed. The support makes the file cut the metal better. You can do the same thing with chain saws. You just need the file that fits the cutter. You just hold a consistant angle and count out the same number of strokes. Also, clean out junk between the moving parts, tighten any loose screws, and drop a few drops of 3 in 1 oil between the moving parts. Having things sharpened at a shop is inconvenient and expensive.

SOURCE: My B & D electric hedge trimmer blades are frozen

spray liberally with wd40, let side and hour spray rag with wd40 and clean blades and look for any bent teeth in blade that maybe binding them as u clean use pliers and screwdriver to move if any found, it is likely that wither sap dried or rust formed and is creating too much friction for blades to move wd40 will help free up blades

SOURCE: sharpen hedge trimmer blade??

My trick is to make sure that I always lube the blades after each session with a 3/4 engine oil + 1/4 kerosene mix - making sure that every tooth gets a drops or 2, then run it for a seconds to spread the oil & leave the blades overlapping. Doing this allows the blades to self sharpen I've found. 2 stroke oil , unmixed is about the perfect viscosity aswell.

My echo hc-152 hedge trimmer blades will not move?

If the motor will turn but the blades will not move then it is very likely that something in the gear box has stripped or broken.

Have a echo 150 gas hedge trimmer motor runs blades don't move what could cause that

Inside the bottom panel, is where the grease etc is... you can take the cover off to make sure it's greased up inside, if it's running and the blades aren't moving when you throttle it, then they can be siezed , or the gear under the panel is off line or broke.

My hedgetrimmer when its full throttle the blades move slowly

I am not familiar with your make of machine, but...SOME of the newer machines have a safety feature added to prevent the blade from moving except when at full engine RPM. When the engine was at idle, or a lower power setting, the blade is not supposed to move.

This is accomplished by use of a "CENTRIFUGAL CLUTCH" between the engine and the blade.

It seems that your centrifugal clutch is beginning to fail and is slipping badly, allowing only partial, slow movement of the blade.

Again, I am not familiar with your machine, but this sounds like the problem I've seen with other machines.

I have a petrol hedge trimmer TRY26PHTA. The engine will start fine but the blades will not move

If the engine starts 'fine" then it has not seized.

Many, if not most, hedge trimmers are , for safety, equipped with a "CENTRIFUGAL CLUTCH" between the engine and the blade to prevent blade operation unless the engine is at full RPM.

IF your machine is so equipped, it's possible that the clutch is worn and slipping so badly that the blade can't move.

Blades wont move when power connected. Stripped it down. Motor is fine. I think it must be the gears attached to the blade unit

Either the gears, OR SOME machines have a "CENTRIFUGAL CLUTCH" [a safety feature] between the engine and the blades.

IF your machine has this feature, then it's possible that the clutch has worn out and is slipping so badly that the blade won't move.

You may have wrapped it the wrong way. If not, your spring is either broken, the bend on the end which slides into the plastic has straightened, or the plastic spool has broken where it holds the other bent end of the spring.

Blades on hedge trimmer stuck or not moving, engine runs fine.. what is the problem?? (echo trimmer)

There is a pin in the gear that helps the blade move when the engine is running. That pin may be sheared off and may require a new gear.
