This is a DLP They have issues with the color wheel, the winding sound could be from this color wheel. If it stops spinning it will cause the tv to shut down. DLP is a mechanical display process. If you are handy and understand electronics you could replace this yourself. If not i would let a tech handle it.

The Ballast that ignites the Lamp could cause the Lamp to fail and/or cause a buzzing noise. That being said, the Color Wheel in the Optical Block assembly could also cause a similar symptom. If Mitsubishi would be willing to help with the Lamp cost, I would call a local Mitsubishi repair facility to install it and see if the noise is still there and find out exactly what is causing it. try turning it on hold the menu button for eight seconds menu pops up try reseting the settings again as before you had the problem

i have a mitsubishi wd-62531 modle i replaced the buib with a phillips bulb wich the salesman says that my old bulb crosses over too now the picture seems to be to dark....could the bulb be not bight enough
