Lexmark s605 won't make a copy

Wireless printer prints from computer but won't copy and print. The machine sounds like it scans and prints, but the page comes out blank.

Check settings from computer, try to send command from computer to scan and copy. May have to plug usb cable in to access all settings unless it's wireless only.

Attention Windows Vista Users
If you have installed your printer on your PC using an original Lexmark Driver CD that came with your product and you are experiencing problems when printing, you may have installed the Windows XP driver.

Follow these steps to resolve:
· 1) Disconnect your USB cable from your printer.
· 2) Uninstall all Lexmark printer drivers on your PC.
· 3) Download the correct Vista driver for your model.
· 4) While leaving the USB unconnected, Install the driver on your PC.

Important - Do not reconnect the USB cable until the install software prompts the question of how the printer is connected.

You may clean the cartridge by following the steps given below:

1. Remove the cartridge or cartridges from the printer.
2. Get a damp paper towel.
3. Set the ink cartridge right side up on the damp paper towel so that the ink nozzles are against the towel and hold the cartridge in this position for about 15 seconds.
4. Now wipe the print head (on the bottom where the ink comes out) across in one direction only (left to right) until it looks clean.
5. Next dab the cartridge on the towel to make sure that the ink is flowing.
6. Snap the cartridges back into the printer.

Next, I'd like you to attempt this printer self-test by following the steps given below:

1. Disconnect the power cord from the back of the printer.
2. Press and hold the button on the printer panel.
3. Reconnect the power cord and keep holding the button on the printer panel until the printer starts to pull paper.
4. The printer should now print a test page. Please note that the test is continuous. To stop the test, disconnect the power cord.

The self-test should at least print out a set of either black or color bars, if not both (if you have a printer with both color and black installed simultaneously). Should this test fail, try it again without cartridges installed. If the self-test still fails to take paper in and make sounds like the carrier is moving across the paper, this is a hardware issue, and the printer will require service. If the self-test completes without any cartridges installed, run the self-test again with only the color cartridge installed. (If you have both black and color cartridges, after this test, run the test again with just the black cartridge installed.) If you find that either cartridge causes the self-test to fail, please let us know.

If the self-test prints, but has lines or smudges or other print quality issues, let us know.

You can change the settings under printing preferences, just follow the steps below:


1 With a document open, click File > Print.
2 Click Properties, Preferences, Options, or Setup.
3 Navigate to:
Advanced tab > 2-Sided Printing area > select On
Note: To use the settings defined in the printer, select Use Printer Settings.
4 Select either the Side Flip or Top Flip option. Side Flip is the setting most often used.
5 Click OK to close any printer software dialogs.
6 Click OK or Print.
To return to single-sided printing, navigate to:
Advanced tab > 2-Sided Printing area > select Off

Plug in usb cable from printer directly to computer then print something. If you're successful, try to print something. If you're on wireless connection, disconnect the usb cord and try to scan.

My lexmark s605 does not work


If you tried to reinstall, then the problem is not coming from your computer but the unit itself. If it does not go through the motion of scanning, then it is a problem in the power to the motor which is most likely "fried."

Wont print from computer


This sounds like a communication problem. Try to uninstall the Lexmark driver and download an updated driver online: http://bit.ly/McHL54

Lexmark s605 will not print in colour


Try updating the firmware of your printer. Just go to http://bit.ly/ghfW8H. Also, perform a maintenance on the cartridges, to do that, on the control panel of your printer, press on the Ink Levels > More Options > Deep Clean Printhead.

Make sure that you're using genuine Lexmark cartridges.

My Lexmark s605's print queue won't clear, and so the printer has stopped working altogether


Please follow the steps below to clear the print queue and restart the print spooler of your computer.

1. Browse to Start -> Run... and type in NET STOP SPOOLER (this will stop the print spooler service)

2. Browse to your windows\system32\spool\PRINTERS\ folder. You should see files there ending in .SPL and .SHD created around the time you tried to print - delete these files.

3. Browse to Start -> Run... and type in NET START SPOOLER (this will restart the print spooler service)


Try to print a document again to verify that the problem is fixed.
