Question about Miele S514 Solaris Electro Plus Vacuum

Suction stopped working

I was vacuuming just fine, when suddenly it stopped sucking. The light still comes on, and the carpet attachment is working... but it doesn't do much if there is no suction!

The brushes rotate fine, but it does not **** up the dirt. It just accumulates and then dumps out randomly. The headlight does not go on but not sure that would be related. I cleared the brushes; I cleared a clog of dog hair that had wadded up where the air flow channel opens inside the base. Is it possible to unscrew the base plate without making a scary mess? I'm guessing I have to find a clog way inside. When it's switched on, and set to carpet, I can see a cloud of dust spits out in front. I think the brushes are rotating but since it's not sucking, then it kicks it out when I take it over the edge of the rug. Help!

Sounds likw you have a clog in the tube. You will probably need to take it apart to find what ever is stuck. It was some pieces of paper that jammed mine once and now I try to pick up anything that seems large to avoid the disassembly again.

My Dyson DC 28 works great, until I remove the bag to empty it. I reattach it, clicking it carefully in place, but then I release the "tilt" thing to vacuum carpet, and NO SUCTION! I have to keep taking...

On the back of the Hoover is a couple of parts you can remove, one is a u bend which will trap heavier parts which resist the suction so get stuck in the bottom of this, and the other part is usually on the right at the bottom which is an acces point to the very art which you hear click. In the upright position it directs the vacuum suction up the extendable pipe, but when you pull the handle back, it should gently glide from one direction over to direct vacuum suction to the bottom plate. It's tha part which is getting stuck in the handle sucking direction. I'd check to see if it is physically damaged in any way or if something is tapped in it like a coin or something. Good luck

Dyson dc24 - just tried to use after being in storage, making loud noise and seems to be blowing out rather than in. Maybe a part missing? The hole at the top of the bin attachment is sucking air...

The wand attachment at the top is supposed to only suck in when it\'s in the upright position, otherwise the suction should be used when the vacuum in rolled on the carpet/wood/surface.

If it\'s still under warranty, contact Dyson directly. This site may help: dyson.com/support.aspx

I hope that helps.

The carpet attachment is turning but not sucking.

Check the clips that attach the hose to the front of the Rainbow. If one is broken, then it will leak air and reduce performance.

No suction of the water from carpet after soap is applied

Hello :

1: A vacuum pulls air through the bag, then through the tube attachment and then through the base (with the spinning agitator brush).

2:Check for signs of suction. Remove the tube attachment from its cradle and, after turning on the vacuum, put your hand to the end of the tube. Is there any suction at all? If there is a little bit of suction then you may have a clogged air tube.

3:Check the vacuum bag. It may be very full. If it is then remove the bag and replace it with a new bag. Check the suction power again. Has the suction improved?

4:Check the tube attachment. Completely remove it from the vacuum. You usually have to twist and pull the tube attachment out of place at the point where it connects to the back of the vacuum. Check the suction power again. This time you place your hand on the vacuum right where the tube used to come out of the back of the vacuum. Has the suction improved?

5:If the suction power has improved then you probably have a clogged tube. Dog hair, people hair, leaves and more can get lodged in the tube slowly over time and then suddenly block the tube completely.

6:Clean the tube by first trying to shake the debris out of the tube. If this does not work then go outside and run a hose through the tube. Use a pressure nozzle if you have one. Run the hose through one end of the tube. Then run it through the other end. Repeat until the debris is disloged. Dry the tube and then reattach to the vacuum.

7:Has suction power improved or returned to normal power? If yes then you can stop reading now. If not then read on.

8:Check the air hose in the base of the vacuum. This hose is usually pretty short and you can see if there is any blockage. If you see blockage then try to remove it. You may need to reach into the hose with a tool (like a screw driver or something long).

9:Has suction power improved or returned to normal power? If yes then you can stop reading now. If not then read on.

10:If you made it to this step then you may have a problem with the motor on your vacuum. If this is the case then you will need to take the vacuum in to a repair shop.

Things you will need :
1 Philips screw driver
1 flat head screw driver

Warning :

# Always unplug electrical devices before you work on them.

# Never work on electrical devices around water or when you are wet.

I hope this will help .

Vaccum has no suction

Here is what we did to fix the problem of our vacuum having no suction.
We unscrewed the three screws on the back and took the hose off of the vacuum.  Then we took the hose outside and put the water hose through the vacuum hose and turned on the water.  After about 30 second the water pushed through a dust bunny the size of a fist and a marker.  Basically, the vacuum did not have suction because the hose was clogged with dust, etc.  After reassembling the vacuum, it worked just fine.

I had the same problem with my vacuum. I called in for technical service and was told to push the "reset button". It turns out that there is a small red button right next to the dirt indicator light. I pushed the button, plugged the vacuum back in and started it up and it worked like a charm! :) Hope this helps!

Suction

Opening that door and attaching the hose will let the suction go thru that hose. So if when you removed the hose, if that door isn't closed tight will cause you to have a suction problem It has to seal and have no leaks. The other thing when be a problem with the recovery tank not sealing when you put it back on. Other then that, any air leak will cause a suction problem.
