Question about Roomba Irobot 4110 Floor-vacuuming Robot, Sage

1 Answer

Roomba stays in same little area

My Roomba is going 6 jerks to the left and right then making an almost 180 turn, then repeats this exact process in the new direction, always staying in the same 3 foot space. It is doing this in each mode Spot, Clean and Max. Also, I can't get it to accept a schedule from thee remote. I have cleaned him thoroughly with compressed air around his cliff sensors and around each wheel. Each wheel seems to have the same amount of 'tension', the small wheel in front is not stuck, I have changed the filter, I have removed the battery and pressed POWER button for a bit to reset him. He sounds great he vacuums great, he just keeps doing this 'jerky' movement. If you put something in the way to block him, he will go straight for a couple of feet, then he starts doing the jerking movement from side to side again, spins a 180 and just keeps repeating this. Please help me if you can, I miss seeing him buzz through the house. Thank you!

First off Roomba is Ms. Roomba...a fine lady!

The problem with HER is it is a woman who can\'t make up her mind where to go. She has a Computer Brain and it is Programmed by the company to move in a direction and respond to its surroundings. If the Brain was disturbed, the commands are mixed at times and thus, incorrect signals make the unit jerk around. Contact the Service center and perhaps get a system test to locate the source of the problem.

Roomba would run for 2 seconds and then stop it Plays 4-note song as Power button blinks RED. if I remove the battery and then try again, it repeats the same.

Probably, the battery has little service life left and should be replaced. You might let the machine run until there is no light showing at all, recharge fully, then try using it again. If you know someone that has a similar unit, try swapping batteries to check. Good luck!

My Irobot Roomba keeps saying that I need to clean Roombas brushes. I have cleaned the brushes...they are spotless. Still the Roomba will go for 2 minutes and shut itself off stating once again to clean...

Perform the troubleshooting found at the iRobot website: http://tinyurl.com/nh5c8a (I promise that really does go to the right site.) That troubleshooting will enable you to determine exactly what's causing this problem. (The Easy Way: Run the Roomba minus the dustbin and look in the back. Is the brush turning? If not, there's the problem. Give support a call at 1-877-855-8593 and they'll let you know how to replace the necessary part.)

Roomba that is 6 years old has started spinning in

Sounds like it is stuck in the "spot clean" mode. Are you familiar with this command and sure that you are not pressing it? If so, there is not much else left to do as iRobot doesn't give much repair help. All they do is offer an upgrade to a more expensive robot.

make sure the wheels are not clogged with something like hair or carpet strands if that don't work it sounds like your right turn sensor might be bad.call the roomba people or go to roomba.com and look for your model and find troubleshooting

Roomba just runs in small circles

i just recently had someone bring in a roomba discovery and all it would do is stay in a tight 4 tile area and go in circles. battery was fully charged and all bumpers were clear.

i took a can of air blast for cleaning computers and blasted the area on the bottom underneath the sensor and watched as several dust bunnies came flying out.gave it a few more blasts for good measure and put it back on the floor and hit power then clean buttons.

thing went in same tight circle for 2 passes then the circle got bigger for 2 more passes , blue light indicator came on and it made a straight line dash across to closed door and started following the edge and criss-crossing the room.

called the owner back in to test and it repeated the same moves when she started it and all appeared to be working normal again.

Roomba Red Problem

Mine did a similar thing. I kept trying to use it anyway, when it made a violent jerk (I thought it had broken something) and it started to work again.

Have you tried pressing both buttons at the same time to make it go straight ahead? It might work.
