Question about Sony DSBK-1803 i.LINK/DV I/O Board for DSR-1800/1600 DSBK1803

Frame accurate firewire export to tape DV/DVCAM

We are using a sony DSR-1800 with an / firewire board.
On a adobe premiere CS3 windows machine.

Now we try to make a frame accurate edit at say 00:03:00:00.

Does anybody know the correct settings for this? We can't seem to make it happen.

We set the DSR TC at preset / regenerate, black the tape to 00:03:10:00 and then assemble edit in export to tape.

If we change the pre-roll settings, nothing different seems to happen. Strange?

Also only assemble edit is possible? Not the insert edits?

Any ideas?

Thank you for your time,

Steve Pittoors

From the looks of it there's no Vista support yet. Pinnacle Systems needs to come out with somekind of patch soon. I've been looking for an hour as well. Couldn't find anything but people discussing the fact that they need the patch badly. On the Pinnacle site there's a link to software for Dazzle Video Creator 9 but it leads to an error page.

I guess you'll have to watch carefully when an update arrives.
Or try to find something of an automatic update feature in the software, maybe it'll find something.

You can try simpler programs such as Windows Movie Maker but I don't think it suits your needs when you want to edit stuff.

Another solution might be Sony Vegas.

I hope this will help you out. It's really frustrating that you buy software and then you can't use it on Vista.

While trying to capture a DV tape, avid freezes ( rainbow wheel )

Is it dv and not hdv? Have you selected the record format, using a native one is generally best. Take it you are using firewire directly, it could be the camera driver - codec, Can you borrow someone elses and try? Has it worked for you before (with and with-out that camera)?

Camera not recognized anymore, with my editing software

What exactly do you mean doesnt recognize? Is windows not detecting the camera, or is it just pinnacle?
1: Check your camera, some have options that need to be enabled to be able to be detected by a pc, like a "PC mode".
2: Check your firewire cable. Try replacing it with another one.
3: Is your firewire connecting to your mainboard directly or do you have a seperate firewire card? If its a seperate card, try checking its connection to the mainboard.

    I hope this helps,

    Capture device not recognized

    Hi there,

this problem can be caused by many different things, I would recommend you try the following:

1, I would first uninstall the software and drivers for the stick and then clean the computers registry using a program such as the free for 30 days tune up utilities available from

2, Download the latest drivers from AverMedias website instead of using the ones provided on the CD

3, Make sure you have the latest drivers for your graphics card, updates are available from the graphics card manufacturer.

4, Try the stick in a different USB port

    5, Defrag your harddrive

If after all this the stick does not work I would return it to the manufacturer and ask for a replacement to rule out that it is the stick and not your computer

    Canopus ADVC-110

Hi! You must use a firewire in order to receive power - if you're going to use composite cables (red, white, yellow) you will have to purchase an AC adapter.
