SOURCE: kenwood tk-3140 two way radios

Hi,

If I may add to luckydave's post, you can verify if it is the internal speaker which is at fault by connecting an ear piece or an external speaker to the jack. In some instances, it could be due to worn out volume control and/or squelch control.

Good luck and kind regards.

SOURCE: Kenwood tk-272g radio wont transmit

This is commonly a sign of a bad or poorly charged battery. Check your charger, battery and battery contacts. Clean contacts with a pencil eraser. Try recharging the battery, making certain the radio is turned off while on the charger. If this does not solve the problem, try swapping batteries with a known good unit. If the swapped battery solves the problem, you know you need to replace your battery and/or charger.

If the problem remains with the swapped battery, you know you have a radio problem. In this case, you will need to look at the battery contacts on the radio, where the battery meets the radio and see if you see a problem there. OR a problem with how the battery fits to or in the radio.

If it is a radio problem, you may need to see your local Kenwood dealer for assistance.

Best regards.

Can a pair of Kenwood TK 3160 work with Baofeng BF888s I have a Baofend and another coworker has the second Baofeng. Our shipping office bosses have Kenwood TK_3160 can they share channel 7

Here goes. Yes, your Baofeng Ham radios could be programmed onto a business band channel. Yes, it could transmit. BUT, ham radios do not meet the stringent requirements that Business Band radios do. This refers to channel spacing, interference and a long list that Business radios are required to have to make operation legal. Therefore, your Baofeng makes a great scanner. Business band frequencies are to be used by radios meeting these stringent requirements in order to prevent interference. Failure to follow the FCC Rules could result in a hefty fine. Didn't you wonder about the price difference?

Kenwood tm-281a transmitting but no one can hear me.

How is your antenna? Do you have another 2 M radio? Try feeding a dummy load and listening on another radio nearby. Look at the display when you transmit. Does it show the right frequency? If you have the offset wrong and it is taking you outside the band, it will likely not transmit. Do you have a power meter? Does the rig's current drain go up when you try to transmit? (Does the power supply keep the voltage up when you try to transmit?) Supply voltage dropping will cause the rig to NOT actually transmit.

I have a tk -250 and I can hear everyone talking but when I try to respond to them all it does is beep

Are you sure the people you hear talking are in the band limits of the radio. Generally, when they beep on transmit it's because you're trying to transmit out of band. If the stations you're hearing are near the band edge it's possible you have the "offset" wrong and when you hit the PTT, the shift (offset) in the wrong direction is taking the radio out of band.

I have a tk-250 I can receive calls but cant transmit when I go to talk and all it does it beeps what do I do

You may have the "tx offset" turned on and may be trying to transmit on a frequency that is considered "out of band" for the radio. Or the frequency you're attempting to transmit on is simply out of band for that radio. It depends on where in the world you're using the radio. If it was a Euro or Japan radio and you're in the US or South America, the bands are different.

I have a phillipinnes made 148gtl at first transmit would wok intermittantly ,now if you let radio warm up it might work one time , recieve is ok i suspect it is not sending a carrier

there are 2 finals in this radio. one for side band, and one for AM. So if it works okay on side band, and not at all for AM, then the final for the AM side is bad. Replace it.

Just want to know if i should use my ll203 amp in am or ssb mode when running with a cobra CB radio?

What radio?? Does it have single side band(SSB)? If not, then don't use SSB.

AM - amplitude modulation
SSB - single side band.

If you have SSB, there would be a switch on it to transmit in SSB. If not, it is AM only.

Second, Has this radio been worked on to be able to run on an amp? If not, you will blow the amp.

A CB radio transmits dead keys with 4 watts of power, and transmits with 4 watts of audio.

a 4 watt dead key is too much for a linear amp. You will smoke the transistors. Also, 4 watts of audio is not enough to drive it properly. You won't get full power.

The dead key needs to be around 2 to 2 -1/2 watts,or what ever makes the linear dead key half its peak wattage., and the modulation (audio) turned up all the way.

It doesn't sound like you know too much about CB radio's. Not a big deal, you can learn. For right now you may want to take it to a cb shop and tell them you want a peak and tune, and set up to run a linear.

You can find CB shops usually at truck stops. Some area's they are other places. Check the internet for local shops.
