I had the same problem with my GE refrigerator. A 26.6 cu side by side as well. I replaced the main motherboard located behind a small panel on the mid to lower right side of the back and it fixed the problem. I used GE part WR55X10552.

The dual water valve (solenoid) that open and let the water from the line when the ice maker calls for it, is leaking and needs to be replaced.

SOURCE: I have a GE refrigerator with water and ice

A common fault on some GE models is that the water line freezes where it passes through the freezer. The fix is to leave the lamp for the water dispenser on overnight, or defrost the unit manually.

Sometimes you can fix this with a hairdryer, but this can cause fire/melted plastic/electrocution issues.

Leaking water dispenser

Bernie,
Your water dispenser is controlled by a solenoid valve that is often in tandem with the ice maker water valve (meaning two valves side by side). Check and make sure the water is dripping from the water outlet tube only, in which case the solenoid valve is leaking. However...sometimes what happens is that the door that isolates the ice shoot (and the inside of the freezer) from the outside can get stuck open. Either blocked, mineral build up, broken etc..and water (melting ice) will drip down and out. This can lead to other problems so be sure the flapper door from the ice dispensor is ALL the way closed.

How do i remove a drip pan from a kenmore refrigerator

The drip pan collects water when the freezer goes into a defrost cycle. Most times there is very little water and the water evaporates quickly. When there is a problem with the freezer or the water does not evaporate between defrost cycles, the drip pan fills with water. If the front bottom of your refrigerator has a grille, you access the drip pan from the front. If there is no grille, access the drip pan from the rear.

Instructions
Rear Access

1 Unplug the refrigerator from the wall outlet. Pull the refrigerator away from the wall so that you can access the rear of the refrigerator.

2 Look under the refrigerator with a flashlight and locate the drip pan. Often when people install refrigerators they neglect to pull the packing from around the drip pan. The drip pan may have tape or styrofoam around it.

3 Remove any packing material away from the drip pan and pull the drip pan out from under the refrigerator.

Front Access

4 Pull the grille at the bottom of the refrigerator below the refrigerator door with your fingers. The grille secures to the refrigerator with plastic clips.

5 Remove any debris from the access area and throw the debris in the trash. The coils and fan under the refrigerator attract dust and dirt. Clean out the area with a lint brush if you have one.

6 Pull the drip pan out from under the refrigerator.

Have GSS201EPC WW and neither water nor Ice maker work. Water is connected and on and water solenoid "buzzes" when toggled. Icemaker also cycles. Water drips if solenoid activated and ice cubes...

If the solenoid valve buzzes you have an iced-up fill tube. Check where the water comes into the ice maker and try to determine if it is clogged. If so, defrost with a hair dryer, but make sure you turn off the unit before.

Hi and welcome to FixYa, I am Kelly.
Your Refrigerator is still under the manufacturers warranty so there is little you can do before contacting customer service. Having said that; there is something you can do before calling for service. I suspect that just maybe your freezer is too cold and the plumbing for the comparement and door water supply may have frozen. Empty the freezer and place a fan blowing into the freezer compartment for over 2 hours. It makes a water mess so be prepaired for the necessary tending to the drips. After the over 2 hours of manual defrosting with a fan check the water in the door function to see if you have water flow. If you have flow at this time you need to begin raising the freezer temperature until you no longer experience water line freeze ups. If after the manual defrosting period you still have the problem you will need to call for warranty service.

One other thing to check is to depress the door light switch and make sure the light is going off when the door is closed. Even if you discover that the light is staying on with the door switch plunger depressed you must contact the Frigidaire service team for warranty service. Since you did not provide a model number there is a possibility that your light switch is actually located in the upper door hinge area. The number for warranty service is listed below.

To reach a service team member, please call:
1-800-374-4432
Monday-Friday, 9:00am-5:30pm (EST)

There are many things I could have you do but all of them would void your warranty.

Thanks for choosing FixYa,
Kelly

I have an odor coming from my Whirlpool side-by-side refrigerator. I have cleaned it top to bottom, inside and out. The odor seems to be coming into the refrigerator through the fan. There is black...

It is the water that is emanating the odor. If you look at the back you will find a drain for this drip pan. If you cant find any then you may like to use a self made mop kind of a thing. A thin stick with some cloth tied to one end. Push it into the opening where you located to water from and dip it into the water and pull the stick and squeeze the water down. You will have to do it a number of times depending on the quantity of water in the pan. Then use a dry cloth the dry up the pan. This should remove the odor. Alternatively you can use a long rubber hose to siphon out the water. BUT, this is not a cure. To cure you may want to call a service personnel.

I have a leaky spigot what can I do

If the spigot means the end of the water tube in the water dispenser, and it steadily drips even if the dispenser is not used for 10 minutes or so - replace the water valve. If the dispenser drips water mostly wright after you used it - you might have some air bubbles in the refrigerator water tubing.

All water underneath.ice in the bottom.freezer working.not making

If I understand you correctly your water line that comes through the back wall of the freezer and into the icemaker is frozen. If so you have a bad water valve. When the valve goes bad it will not seal off the water. It will seep causing a slow drip where the water comes out at you icemaker. It'd slow enough to freez causing a ice blockage. This will not allow water to come through and fill your icemaker when it calls for water.

The feeder tube for the ice maker freezes and water leaks inside

First we have to determine if the problem is a faulty water valve. Reason: faulty water valve can continue to supply water even after the IM or door dispenser is finished calling for water causing a drip feed freeze up problem, or water overflow condition in the ice maker (IM). Another common cause is unrelated, but caused by a blocked drain line often resulting in thick ice build up on the bottom of the freezer, water dripping onto the floor, or water dripping into the refrigerator (top freezer mount models only) and freezing near the lights or damper ducts after defrost. Fix for this problem is to remove evap panel and clear freezer drain line with hot water or compressed air. If this is not the case, and water is dripping out of IM supply line, remove IM H20 supply line from IM at back of appliance and see if the water seems to drip out, if so, replace the water valve. If water doesn't drip out at all, replace IM, or IM module depending on the model of refrigerator that you have as contacts in the IM are also responsible for calling for H20 supply. You will have no more problems after this.

Water dripping from the water dispenser on freezer

If the water is dripping from the dispenser tube, you need a water valve. The valve is not shutting off completely. Check to make sure water is not dripping from ice chute. If the chute door doesn't seal off you will get moisture there and it will also frost up the ice chute.
