Question about Gateway MT6840 Notebook PC
I get an option to "Launch Start-up Repair" or "Start Windows Normally"but neither option works after repeated efforts.
I tried getting into the BIOS and that does not load either. There is no "Safe Mode" option offered either.
I tried using F2, F8, F10 and F11 and these all culminate in the same two options mentioned above.
I tried a cold boot from the start-up CD/rescue CD that came with the laptop but that also failed.
All of the above attempts ended up with a blank screen with nothing on it and it just hangs there and does nothing for hours on end.
I suspected my hard drive had failed and tried connecting it to a USB2.0 port on my desktop using a SATA connection kit to see if I could read it and back-up my data. (It's a Western Digital WD1600B EVS 160GB hard drive). This worked and I was able to save my data but this then rules out a hard drive failure which leads me to believe it's a motherboard/processor issue perhaps...or scrambled BIOS???!!!
