I would check to see if the compressor is running. If it is very hot and not humming then the comp is done for. or very hot and you can feel it running constantly the you have a leak and note enough refrigerant. If you hear it run then click then run then click and if hot the comp is done for and needs to be replaced.

SOURCE: the fridge is cold but the freezer won't freeze

It has seperate cooling circuits as you describe the problem can be a leak of refrigerant in the freezer circuit.if there is no heating up in the freezer condensing coil.It has to be check for the leakage.

SOURCE: Temp Alarm going off, when freezer seems to be cooling fine.

You need to check the temp in the freezer to make sure it's down to around 10 degrees. The alarm will go off much above that.

Fridge noise cutting out

To be honest it sounds to me like your fridge may be ok?

To extract the heat from within the fridge interior a compressor (motorised pump) moves gas around a series of pipes around the cabinets insides. This movement of gas causes heat to be picked up and taken away externally to the outside world. When the fridge temperature reaches a predetermined level (around 5C) the compressor shuts down and all is quite. The sound of running water you hear is the coolant gas changing state from gas to liquid and running through the coolant pipes. If the fridge is doing it's job and keeping the content cool then I wouldn't worry. One of the reasons you are probably noticing this sound is because it is a table top fridge. Built in fridges make the same noises but you don't really hear them so much because of the cupboards screening the sound.

Freezer cools some to a refirdgerator level, however will not freeze

A few suggestions are 1. Turn down the fridge portion a little and colder air should redirect into the freezer part 2. If it is an older unit sometimes defrost it , unplug it and turn it upside down for a day or so (this moves some of the corrosion inside the pipes). Turn it back up and plug it back in .

you know where you adjust the temperature of your fridge. its a knob with a line that increase in thickness. or it may have numbers written on it. before you replace it. try adjusting that knob to set it to a higher temp. please if your taking the covers off the replace thermostat,, please turn the power off first.

It quit running and everything thawed. It's got electric going to the dial. plugged it in and can't hear anything running.

The power coming into the fridge goes to the thermostat and when it's time for cooling the thermostat tells the compressor and other components to come on so it has to be the thermostat..Does the light insinde the fridge work? If so i would replace the thermostat and it should fix the problem!!!

Fridge Freezer in Autodefrost mode

Power surge can cause problems such as you have. I am not familiar with your brand but it sounds like the defrost timing circuit is your problem. Defrosting the surface of the back wall is not the answer. The cooling coil in the freezer is behind the back wall normally and a surface defrost does not do the trick of defrosting the coil. Have an appliance service tech check it out for you.
