How to change drive belt

disconnect power, remove the belt guard, spin the small pulley while derailiing the belt from the large pulley. To install, put the belt on the small pulley and then on the large pulley while rotating the spinning parts by hand, easier to turn the small pulley, guide the belt into the large pulley groove.

Our playskool train will not move forward please could you advise me how to solve this - thanks dee

Had the same problem - the train at first stopped moving, but still rotated the balls, then later stopped rotating the balls at all. The music still played, though. I found the issue to be a small belt that transfers the motion from the electric motor to the gear system. The belt is tiny (think small rubber band) and lost tension, finally detaching from the system altogether. Getting to it is the difficult part... mind you that taking it apart carries a very high risk of breaking the plastic, so be prepared to scrap the whole thing and buy new.
To fix, start by removing the 7 outside screws to essentially split the train body in half. You'll have to pry off the large green wheel that's opposite the screws (right side of train) - this part carries the highest break risk. Be mindful of a spring (about 1/2 inch diameter) that may go flying - that one goes on the outside of the little inside wheel that moves the balls around.
Once the train is split in half, remove all screws you find, which will allow you to remove the mechanical sections, which includes the battery pack, electric motor, on/off switch, and gear system, including the wheel that moves the balls around. By the time this entire section is lifted off the train body, you'll see where the gears (they're a bit greasy) are attached to the motor towards the bottom of the gearbox. The gearbox itself has 3 or 4 screws to address that will reveal the entire gear system.
I had to take the lower (smaller) gears apart in order to replace the gear belt.
Replace the gear belt with a small rubber band (you'll likely need a small screwdriver to wrap it around the wheels), then re-assemble the gearbox and system. i recommend constantly running the toy with every step to make sure everything's still connected.
with a healthy rubber band/belt in place, the rest of the gear systems will fall into place with enough torque to drive both the train movement and the ball wheel.
good luck

Anyone know why my Bissell Proheat 2X Turbo Model 9300's brushes won't turn anymore

If the Brushes don't rotate, & you have two brushes; 1). Turn unit on side. ( Make sure unit is up-pluged) 2). Rotate the front brush roller, if the second roller moves at same time, 3). Locate a small ribbed belt that goes from the further back roller, to a small ribbed pully. (Gates belt #177-3m5) ( on side under a clear cover) The belt may not be broken, but may have carpet fuzz / lint covering the belt ribs, causing the belt to slip. If that belt is OK and you find that the small pully doesn't turn the belt/rollers, the problem is with a small internal direct drive motor, that drives the brush rollers. At this point return the unit, as Bissell has a design defect & is using cheap parts.

SMELLS LIKE A BELT BURNING AFTER i WASHED A RUG

KatieD,

If it won't spin or drain water, you are right to look for a drive belt related problem. The belt is underneath the bottom floor pan.

Here's what I did:

1) leaned the washer back a bit and propped something firm and secure under the front edge.

2) after seeing the belt was intact, I pulled it off, it is seven years old, and not too stiff.

3) After making sure no limbs were under or inside the machine, I had my wife start the machine in the spin cycle and watched as one of the 2 smaller pulley's in the corners spun very quickly. This was the motor pulley. Had my wife turn if off.

4) Attempted to turn each of the 3 pulleys that the belt had been wrapped around. The large plastic transmission pulley in the center turned with a little effort. The small metal pulley for the motor turned with very little effort. The remaining metal pulley in another corner would barely turn at all, and it should have been the easiest to turn. This pulley was for the drain pump and was nearly seized up.

I'm sure this is my problem as it is a fairly common point of failure and one of the most inexpensive repairs for the FIY'r. New drain pump should be about $70-$90.

Hope this helps you with your problem!
