To be able to play movies stored on a USB device (it doesn´t matter if it's a usb pen, a usb hard drive, etc), you will need two things:

1.- The device where you want to play the movies must support the USB device that you're using (not all USBs are the same, and they can be formatted differently, too). So if when you plug it in, the TV doesn´t recognize it, use a different USB device.

2.- The movies that you put on the USB device must be palyable by your device. ie: your TV, BluRay, etc must be able to decode and play the movie format, and this can be AVI, DIVX, XVID, H624, QT, MKV, etc. Even if your device reproduces DIVX movies, if the movie is encoded in a weird format, it won't be playable. The fastest way to know is trial and error.

maybe you did not properly select the right application in your tv... example if you play movies go to movies menu and if thats music go to music menu and also for pictures go to picture menu......or the format of you data is not supported of you TV..

Are you using an HDMI cable? Go to input and select TV. Then you should be able to access the Plug & Play option and be able to turn off the Demo Mode.

Hi,
Since I do not have your tv model number so can't be specific, check Demo mode option in Menu and turn it off. Some tvs have selection like Store/ Display and Home mode, store or display mode is demo mode so set tv on home mode to turn off demo mode.
Let me know model number of your tv if you have additional question.

Go to TV input and select menu. In menu, go to setup and select ez setup. In ez setup, select home and not store for TV location. Feature demo will now be turned off.

Try playing a Demo game, if you dont have any download it from playstation network. The point is just to force the sytem to play games and if you notice, movies and games are listed under a different folder in the icon's list, so playing a demo game will force the system to play the game and you should be able to play your games fine after that,. Thing is that a game's info might've got stuck in freeze mode when the system was shut off unproperly while a game disk was still inside, that's all. Good luck, dont wanna see any PS3 comrades suffering the unspeakable horridness of not been able to play games. Be strong my friend.

Your TV is in DEMO-STORE MODE.
Go to menu, find Plug & Play option, start it, and when asked, select Home Mode, than Enter and than just Exit.

it depends on what your using it for, adjust colour tones to what you think looks natural, contrast between 80-90, keep sharpness below 30. just have a play around till you find what best suits the source material.
