Question about Kenwood KDC-HD455U

1 Answer

Wont work I have hooked up all wires correctly for my Jeep Grand Cherokee from wire to wire contact. I do NOT have a harness, because when my radio was stolen out of my car, i didn't have the luxury of asking the robber to leave the hook ups and dont cut the wire. So the new radio is hooked up but will not light up or function correctly. I have disconnected all speakers. I've been switching the battery line and switch line. the CD players always starts no problem but nothing lights up and nothing else happens. i put in a CD while the speakers were hooked up, and nothing played.

Try wiring it up with both the constant power and the switch power directly to your battery. if it works, then your switch wire inside the vehicle isnt a 12v output.
if it doesnt, then something is wrong with your head unit

SOURCE: cd player plays, but no sound comes out of speakers.

Look at the enwood. I bet you have the remote wire hooked to the blue wire insted of the blue/white wire. The blue wire goes dad when you play a cd as it is for a power antenna. The blue/white wire is your amp turn on.

Now, if you do not have a blue/whie and only blue, then obviously that circuit in the radio is bad in whch case your only other option s are either connecting it to an accesory fuse or using a toggle switch connected to power.

SOURCE: cd player plays, but no sound comes out of speakers.

first off the amp gets power straight from the battery. the amp is used to power the subs. the subs are suppose to be connected to the amp only( never the speakers).

for the second part you mostlikely killed the wires. you should get some one to look at it and check the wires. thee speakers might need to be re-wired

SOURCE: CD player wont come on was doing weird things

You have your accessory wire (red wire) and remote ran together and the yellow (constant wire ran separately in the dash?

You need the red wire to so you can use accessory and to turn off your cd player when your vehicle turns off.

You need the yellow wire to keep all your settings stored. base/treble/time clock

Just a little clarification. Your amp turns on with the remote wire (blue) wire, if that is not hooked up you will get no power to the amp.

Here's the in-dash diagram to your vehicle at the bottom of this pdf.

You want to focus on N,O, and P

Do you happen to have an after market wiring harness? These can be bought from walmart for your vehicle. You just take the male end connect the colors together and plug end that goes to your cd player into the female end. Very easy to do.

You could also have one of these fuses out under your hood, that might cause you to lose power to everything.

Just got a 1998 grand cherokee radio says wait, but nothing happens

It says WAIT because wrong codes have been entered.

Leave it SWITCHED ON...UNDISTURBED for as long as it takes to automatically reset itself

This could take an hour or two (or more)

Make sure you have the correct code

CHRYSLER codes are available here

97 jeep grand cherokee no sound from radio tested radio out of car it works. old owner had amp under back seat and cut into speaker wires in harness reconnected but still on sound

You will need to trace the speaker wires to see if they are disconnected anywhere in the harness. are you sure the speakers are OK? Fopr wire locations on the radio try going to: http://www.installdr.com/ They list the pin locations and wore coding you will need.
Good luck

Radio & anttena will not come on with ignition.

From the factory wiring there will be a red/white wire with a constant 12v and an ignition switched 12v wire which is red/gray. Hook those to corresponding wires on the aftermarket wiring harness. You may have the constant and switched wires backwards. Also the antenna trigger wire (usually blue on aftermarket radios) should be hooked up to the green/red wire on the factory harness.

I HAVE A 94 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE PUTTING A PIONEER DEH-1900MP STEREO IN AND WHEN I SHUT IT OFF THE STEREO WONT SAVE THE PRESET STATIONS

the problem is you dont have the battery wire on the radio hooked up to a 12v constant. it sounds like you have to take the battery wire of the radio and hook it up to a wire that stays 12v all the time even when the car is off.
