Remove the plugs with a pair of pliers by prying them off. remove the inset hex-head screws with a socket wrench. Ply the pod away from the main body with a flat head screw diver.

I hmy navagator running on its side

With Hayward Navigator pool cleaners, it could be one of several problems making it run on its side. I would first check the shoes and the wings to make sure that they are not damaged or worn. If they are, they should be replaced. Make sure that the throat is not blocked and is free of debris. Check your water flow with the water flow gauge and make sure that it is not turned up too high. Finally, make sure that your hose does not have a bend or other obstruction making it function improperly.

Does not move even after replacing shoes

The other parts that need replacing about every 12-18 months are the wings, flaps, pods, A-frame, turbine and, not as often, the gearbox. Also, make sure you tighten the screws on the pods all the way or they won't be able to move the cleaner properly.

It wouldn't hurt to replace the pods (paddles). Also, the wings, flaps, A-frame, turbine, feet(shoes) and the gearbox. All of these things wear and should be done about every 12-18 months, as needed. Before you do any of this, though, try tightening the screw on the pod that's not working. These screws need to be very tight.

My navagator pads don't go up & down with the weight of the navagator?

This is probally worn "A" frame bearing. If you take the head to a pool store they will usually work on this for you for just the price of parts.

Hayward Navigator Pool Cleaner Will Not Move

The problem is that you have too much play in your drivetrain. You will need to check for movement between the pod and the a-arm and then between the a-arm and turbine. It would also be a good idea to check the turbine bearings. Find the loose fitting, worn part and that is your problem. As far as it not twisting on the end of the hose; this is most likely caused by the screen on the back of the unit being obstructed by debris or the gearbox assembly being jammed by debris that got through the screen or is just worn out. If you have any mechanical abilty you shoud be able to do these repairs yourself with the help of a downloadabe exploded diagram. If not call a pool repairman the parts are not really that expensive compared to the cost of a new unit.
