Check your documentation; that may be a safeguard because there is a problem or corruption in Windows, so it auto-starts in safe mode so that you can troubleshoot. I am just guessing. Safe mode loads only the bare essential drivers to get Windows running, all peripherals are blocked because one of them is crashing Windows. I am just guessing, so check your manual that came with the computer. What you can do is a system restore to an earlier date; hopefully that will take care of it.

Note that you will not lose any programs or data in Windows 7 System Restore.

Is it booting to normal mode?

If it is booting to normal mode, click start - run and type msconfig.
Click on Boot.ini tab and Check Safeboot. Click Apply and Close or OK. It will restart the computer to safe mode. Remember to uncheck Safeboot to make the computer to boot in normal mode again.

SOURCE: computer not booting in safe mode

I'm pretty sure IBM Lenovo online support has a troubleshooting page to help you with your restart problem, but if you've looked there already, try to work through this article. Also see here for info on how to disable the restart and use a stop error code to diagnose the cause. Frequently this indicates a hardware or device conflict of some kind, but can also be a symptom of malware. In the latter case, I recommend you follow these malware removal protocols.

I hope this information allows you to resolve this issue. If you need further assistance, please post back with a comment to this thread.
If I've managed to answer your question or solve a problem, please take just a moment to rate this post....thanks!

You might want to try going into setup and setting your boot drive options to DVD drive as your 1st, HD as 2nd and Floppy as 3rd. Put your windows disk in the DVD before boot and run the program from DVD.

Setup is starting services

Hi,

First try to check if you can log to your computer via Safe Mode, if you can then there is a few possible things happened to your computer:
1. Corrupted software installation that is messing up with your startup services.
2. Hardware problem (memory or bad sector in the hard disk)
3. Or Operating system or malware.

Anyway for the step to test if you can log in via Safe mode try the steps below:
Reference: Safemode
Open Safe Mode with the F8 key

All Windows versions can be booted into Safe Mode by this method. Note that it is somewhat tricky to time this procedure and it may take several attempts.

1. Turn on or restart your computer.
2. Hold down the F8 key before the Windows logo appears. If the computer makes a complaining noise, tap the F8 key repeatedly instead of holding it down.
3. If a Windows logo or "Windows starting" appears, wait until Windows loads. Then restart the computer and try pressing F8 again.
4. Once you are successful, a menu will appear with a number of boot options. Use an arrow key to navigate to "Safe Mode" and press the Enter key.

Trying to get to Safe Mode by using the F8 key can be frustrating and there is another way that uses the System Configuration Utility (msconfig).

Best Regards,

How do I get into safemode on my acer aspire desktop

1 Restart the Acer Aspire netbook by pressing the "power" button on the netbook's keyboard or by pressing the "CTRL," "ALT" and "DEL" keys at the same time. 2 During startup, hold down the "F8" function key immediately when you see the "Acer" splash screen and the option for entering "Setup." 3 Keep pressing the "F8" key until the "Advanced Boot Options" menu appears. If you receive a "keyboard error," restart the Acer Aspire and repeat step 2. 4 Use the arrow keys to navigate to the "Safe Mode" selection on the "Advanced Boot Options" menu. The arrow keys are located on the right-hand side of the Acer Aspire keyboard. 5 Press the "Enter" key to execute the "Safe Mode" selection. If not, then boot the computer to "Safemode", to do so, restart the computer and as soon as it restarts keep on tapping F8 key, now select "Safemode" from the Advance boot menu.
