Question about Canon i455 InkJet Photo Printer

1 Answer

Canon i455 not printing properly

Black text lines and part of lines missing.

Have replaced black cartridge but has not changed.

A clue might be that when the same page is printed over again always the same parts are missing.

I am having exactly the same problem. Black print missing or barely visible on every other line. Have tried, new cartridges, cleaning cartridges, print head clean and deep clean, nothing improves. Have also reinstalled all drivers all to no effect. will print all colours and black when doing a nozzle check but nothing from any program. Have tried it on a different pc that it used to work on, still no joy.

When you remove the black cartridge there will be electrical contacts inside the printer that lines up with some contacts on your cartridge, make sure these are clean

Also, according to this printers manual, have you tried a printer head align?

"(1) Open the Printer Properties dialog box. See Opening the Printer Properties dialog box directly from the Start menu
(2) Click the Maintenance tab.
(3) Click Print Head Alignment.
Follow the instructions on the screen."

Printer prints color, but not black even with new cartridge

First thing to do is a head clean then do a test print. Do you see any of the black lines?
If not, don't do a deep clean as this uses up too much ink. Remove the ink cartridges and then remove the print head unit.
Run the print head under a hot tap for a few minutes until all the run off is clear. Take it outside if you can and shake it dry vigourously. You can use paper towel if you like but try not to wipe across the nozzles. Make sue the contacts are all dry and refit it to the printer. reinstall the ink cartridges and print a few test pages - the first couple may well be wasted but then it should start to print properly.
Is the black still missing? If it is do another head clean and another test print. Any improvement? If you start to see some black do some more head clean routines and it may well come back to normal. If on the other hand you see no trace of black at all, it could be that the print head is worn out and needs replacing.
This printer is now of an age where the print head may well be failing. Mine had to be replaced last year as one of the colours stopped printing.
The head is not exactly cheap - but it's cheaper than buying a new A3 printer.

Photosmart c6180 printer is printing some lines and missing many other lines when printing black text. Have changed black print cartridge but this does not help

You should first try uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers for the printer. If this doesn't correct the problem, try replacing the cables to the printer.

Printer will not print black ink

Chewbacca08's solution gave me an idea. I set the print setting to photos paper (even though I was trying to print on plain paper) and IT WORKED. It's worth a shot before you trash a perfectly good printer.
