How do I fix a jammed battery compartment in a kidde i12060 smoke detector?

You could try to pry the door loose with a small screwdriver. To be safe, make sure the primary 110V power is turned off before trying to loosen the compartment door.
This is an inexpensive unit, less than $10, and is easily replaced if you can't get the door open.
If you do decide to replace it, you may want to look into a combination unit which monitors smoke and carbon monoxide if you don't have a carbon monoxide detector already in your home.

Smoke detector removed from ceiling. Only wires visible, but I still hear chirping.

Look at the detector you removed, and all others that may still be wired in.
They all have battery backup. Although the detectors are hardwired, the chirping is coming from one of the detectors to let you know to change the battery.

How to open449CSTE - Smoke Detector W/Heat Sensor, Sounder & Status Relay keeps going off from stean

Opening is simple, but I don't know what you expect to accomplish. Just insert a small flatblade in the vertical opening opposite the hinge side and press firmly to release. If the plan is to disable the device by removing the wires you will only create a trouble condition if your smokes have been wired correctly. More info about your intentions might be helpful.

How to replace battery back-up in hard-wired ceiling mounted residential Firex Smoke Detector? Model number unknown but units about 10 y.o. - circular in shape and cream coloured.

Those battery holders are not easy to find on that model. However, look for a small screw on the outer perimeter of the detector. That's the door that needs to removed to replace the back-up battery. Some models don't have the screw, but can be popped open with gentle pressure using a flat tip screw driver.

Hope that helped to solve your problem.

My Kidde Sillouette won't stop nuissance beeps. I originally set it off by opening oven door and the manual is no help...

If the detector is within 15-20' ' of you oven, it's going to alarm every time you open the oven door, when the range is on. Cleaning and moving the detector is your only solution. Not sure your detector has one, but if it has a reset button, press it for 5 seconds and release it. That should stop the chirping.

My SS785 smoke detector "chirps"

The unit may simply need cleaning. As dust and lint will accumulate on the unit and in the senors.
You can accomplish this with a can of compressed air with a straw nozzle (like you clean your computer with). Carefully remove the cover and blow out all the nooks and crannies of the detector. If you can't remove the cover, stick the straw nozzle into any opening you can see and give it a quick blast of air.

The detector may alarm due to the COLD air from the can. But, should stop once it warms back up.
You should clean all the detectors in the house at least every 6 months.

I find it unusual, that there is no battery backup in your detector. What happens if you have a fire during a power outage?

Kidde Smoke detector 1275 continues to chirp. I located the detector and opened it but I can't get to the battery. Please help

When you say you opened it, what do you mean? The unit should come off the trim ring and expose the bottom which I believe is where the battery is located. Just so you know, if the unit is more than 10 years old the entire unit must be replaced per NFPA 72.

One beep constantly on smoke and CO unit. says battery low but the system is wired into house panel. Help!

Most new smoke detectors work off of two power sources, electric and battery backup. The battery is used to power the detector if primary electrical AC power is lost. It would be a good idea to replace all detector batteries every two years or so. You'll access the battery by opening the unit, find out the type used and then purchase a replacement at your local store. Hope this helps.

Alarms go off with humidity.too sensitive.Any

All smoke detectors, whether they are of the photo-electronic or ionization type, can false alarm due to steam. There are basically two solutions to your problem. Either move the detector further away from these areas (I have found keeping a smoke detector at least 6 feet away from the bathroom door normally works) or if that is not practical, after showering try to evacuate steam by either opening a window or turning on the exhaust fan for several minutes before opening the bathroom door.
