Question about Garmin nuvi 200W GPS Receiver

Open Question

My GPS has gone crazy...it is telling us the wrong directions (wrong lane to be in, etc.) and has been taking us the long way around everything. It added on a half mile trip around a block that was not necessary. These are not on roads that have been changed. What do I do?

SOURCE: took me on a 2 lane route for 100 miles instead of freeway!

These things are miles from perfect. However, if you knew of the freeway route, you should have taken it. Remember, a PND is only useful when you don't know where you are and can often be confusing if you're using it to direct you to place that you know.

SOURCE: Downloaded latest maps onto Nuvi 760. When using

I have run into this myself along a certain stretch of highway consistantly. I was told it had to do with the geometry of the satellites in the sky in relationship to where I was at the time. I just deal with it as it doesn't happen very often - and only for a short stretch or so (a mile or two).

One thing you can check are the settings to make sure you have the nuvi set to "stay on road" Make sure you've set it for a mode other than "pedestrian" - which of course would allow you to leave the marked roads.

If you're still having trouble, don't hesitate to call Garmin Support for free, knowledgeable tech support. Please rate this reply if it was helpful - good luck!

Garmin receives sat signal ok will give directions - basically everything operates normally with the exception that the actual map on the screen does not show anything.

Go to your settings and check what options have been selected. You may have to revert to the default settings and then tweak your preferences.

Try letting battery die, let it sit for a day or two then charge it all the way, completely depleating the battery for full reboot may give intense recalibration

Garmin Nuvi 265WT voice prompts tell me way to late to turn as I approach turns and intersections. Many times I am already pass the left or right turn lanes before I am told to turn. Also addresses and...

I can help you fix the satellite problem with your Garmin Nuvi 265WT.

Poor or inaccurate GPS tracking, and taking a long time to acquire satellites, are issues that have been addressed by Nuvi 265WT firmware updates.

There are three steps to take to get your Nuvi 265WT running better than new:

  1. Back up your Favorites.
  2. Perform a Hard Reset.
  3. Download and then run Garmin 265WT WebUpdater to replace its firmware / system software.

I hope that helps.
