Lever won't stay down. Have removed all screws and could take off top but handle on lever prevents this. How do I remove the end of the lever in order to get the top off to check latching mechanism?

My toaster turned out to have an electromagnet that makes its lever and the toast carriage stay down. It turned out that the problem with my toaster was that it was plugged into a faulty outlet. Unfortunately, I destroyed part of my toaster's darkness mechanism trying to understand its latching mechanism before I realized that it was not made like traditional toasters. So my first recommendation to you: try plugging it into an outlet that you KNOW works.

"Down lever" doesn't stay down

You can try taking the toaster over to the kitchen sink and hold it upside down. Shake the heck out of it and you may dislodge something (like an old breadcrumb) in the switch. I've had to do this numerous times. You have to flip it upright, shake it, turn it upside down and shake it again -repeat until nothing comes out and nothing sounds like it's rolling around in the toaster.

PTO CONTROLS. How do you engage and disengage PTO.

The tractor is not a 6300 is it.If it' not you need to adjust the cable for the p.t.o. until it will stay down.Don't turn the turnbuckle too much at a time because there is a fine line between the won't engage and the won,t disengage adjustment.

Lever on taoster will not stay down

I would just buy a new toaster...they are not that expensive. Check the intruction book first because maybe it's under warranty. Or if you bought it very recently, just take it back to the store. Most places will take it back even without a reciept if you tell them you just bought it and it's already broken.

My feed dog fell down and I can't get it to stay up.

Something I read made me realize that the owner's manual assumed you were looking at the machine from the back rather than from the front. I had been moving the lever in the wrong direction.

Bread won't toast

We ran into the same problem today with our toaster. There was never a problem before I cleaned it--not only by sliding out the crumb drawer, but by turning it upside down to dislodge every last crumb. After that, It would not stay down when pushed down.

My husband took the cover off and found that a magnet is what keeps the lever down when the toaster's on, and allows it to go back up when the toasting is done. It's an electro magnet that works only when the toaster is on. It seems that when I turned the unit upside down and rightside up again, crumbs landed on the magnet's contact plates (which are about 1/4" x 1/2") and would not allow the magnet to engage. Because the magnet wouldn't engage, the lever would not stay down, and the toaster shut off. Brush off the magnets, replace the cover and toast away!

Toaster lever wont stay down

Open the toaster up and look inside by the levers, there should be a little piece that will keep the lever down, if this is missing, then you may need to replace the toaster, if not, then the little piece may be stuck, you can use the following to try and loosen it up,
1. WD-40
