CDP100 CASIO PIANO VOLUME CONTROL SCRATCHY. UNABLE TO ACCESS THE POTENTIOMETER. PL HELP

Try this first with the piano off, run the control from stop to stop rapidly several times. The object is to clean off any dust deposits and shine the contacts inside the pot. If the pot is not damaged beyond repair, then this should fix it.

Where can I find a wiring diagram?

if your replacing the existing pots. the values should be on the
backs of them. usually 500k for volume if using humbuckers and 100k for the tone pots. if your using single coil pick ups. its usually 100k across the board. but if you still need a diagram. what is the make and model of the instrument?

My ME 70 is auto skipping. Example, from one effect to another without me touching any button. an electrician said it just need cleaning, but even after he cleaned it, it still has the same problem. please...

"Auto skipping. Example, from one effect to another".
Is it always so, or only sometimes?
What type of effect? Is it happen at the all Type of parameter? It can be observed from the changes sound is heard.
Yes "it just need cleaning", but, which parts are cleaned, and how he did? Is it potentiometer?
And if he simply cleaned by spraying contact cleaner, this is not effective at all, because it does not touch at all the inside of the pot.
Potentiometer need to be replaced, but if it is difficult to find, open the back lid of potensio. Fix the inside (you have to understand the potentiometer structure inside).
ME70 pots are look like this :

How to replace a potentiometer

Disconnect from the mains.
Unscrew the four screws in the top
Slide out the chassis
Remove the knobs
Unscrew the pot nuts
Unclip/unscrew the PCB
Unsolder the pot
Solder in new one.
Re-assemble in reverse order
Strongly suggest you youse a better quality pot
Also the treble pot tends to go on these, replace at same time
All the best, Chris

There is an audible hiss/distorted noise when the volume nob is turned. is this a sign of a failing potentiometer?

its accumulation of dust particles in the POT. Clean it by pouring alcohol into the POT and keep turning it around(with power off) and it will clear

I have a dean vendetta xm and it wont make sound through an amp they wiring is correct (checked through diagram provided by dean)

If the wiring is correct on the guitar, try plugging it in to a different amp. If you still don't get any sound, the problem may be a faulty volume or tone potentiometer (or pot. The knob, for simpler words). These are fairly easy to replace if you know how to solder. If not, then watch this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BLfXXRfRIzY

You can get the pots from Musician's Friend, Guitar Center, or any music store that carries guitar parts.

If that doesn't fix it, then the problem is in your pickups. You can get "aftermarket" pickups through the above mentioned dealers, and you're not restricted to the original pickups.

What you replace them with will affect your tone, so do some research before settling on a set of pickups. Active pickups will give you more gain (great for nu-metal and hi-gain applications) and have lower output noise, but they require batteries. Passive pickups have no need for batteries, but tend to produce slightly more noise and hum.

Hopefully, it's the pots. That will be the cheaper fix, since they run about $2-$4USD each. Pickups can range from $100-$500USD a set.

Hope that helps!

What potentiometer is being used in rbx 374 bass volume control..because i replaced it with a500 potentiometer but still its not working..i bought yhe bass second hand,,is potentiometers for active pickups...

Yes, active use different value pots than passive. The volume control is LIKELY an "audio taper" which can be either an "A" or a "B" marking as there is confusion about the marking. The resistance is likely around 500K ohms down to as low as 50K ohms. The marking MIGHT be something like 504 B or 503 B or the same with the letter "A".

An A500 pot might be only 50 ohms... That would result in very low output. Again, the marking in the industry is not consistent.

Best bet is to get the part from Yamaha. Go to Yamaha America "parts" dept in California. You can search the phone number with Google.

It appears that both these use a 50K pot in the identical circuit and it is UNLIKELY they re-engineered very much so it is likely they use the same pot.

Behringer parts service should be able to tell you.

I have a Thomas Symphony Royale 782 with the rack portion of the rack and pinion volume control broken. Where might I find this component?

If it is the potentiometer that is broken, it is likely an AllenBradley "J" style pot.

Here is Digikey site for J pots. Choose resistance to match. You may need to check if it is an audio taper as well. The site should have them as well.

There is a repetative clicking sound whenever I use the treble on my guitar. what is causing this?

Did you mean the treble control potentiometer (knob)?

This was posted as an amplifier problem, but since you mentioned that the use of the treble (button?) on the guitar is causing the clicking, i would have the treble potentiometer checked first.

It could have a loosely soldered or broken wire on any of the tabs, oxydized slider contacts, bad ground (negative) connnection, possibly dirt or damage on the resistive track inside the pot.

A broken wire can easily be resoldered, but if there is internal damage or oxydation, the potentiometer should be either cleaned or replaced.

In short words - it may be a faulty treble pot.

There are ways to disassemble and clean a potentiometer, but the difficulty of this task may vary and depends mostly on the type and build of the pot.

The other alternative is to have it replaced.
