Camera is less than 1 year old, and was working fine. Next time I wanted to use it, the camera did nothing. I thought the battery was dead, but I found that wasn't the problem when I charged up both and nothing happened. Any ideas on what the problem is? Would this be covered by warranty? Have you heard this happening before?
I had a similar experience, both with my original TZ5 and the replacement TZ5 Panasonic sent me. I was mystified at first, but now I think it's the AC adapter I was using. With the replacement camera, absolutely nothing happened between taking pictures of my new house and plugging in the camera to export the photos. The back of the camera near the AC input got really hot and my surge protector shut off. The camera won't turn on. I don't know about warranties, but if you think that's the problem and were using a Panasonic AC adapter, you should check. My (non-Panasonic) adapter worked ok the first time or two I used it.

When turning it on, a message shows: "Turn off th camera and turn it on again" (but in Swedish - bought in Sweden). The lens doesn't retract when turning off.
