Question about Intel Computers & Internet
I don't know what is meant by dual core and why a bigger one is important.
Dual Core refers to the number of cores in the processor.
In todays market, the more cores the fast in storage and access.

amd is better for online gaming and grafix, from my personal view they also can take more power, than a standard dual core intel proccessor so id advise you to go for Amd if its for online gaming

I'd advise don't start thinking below E2180. As per the performance go, E2180 and AMD Athlon 64 X2 5000+ are almost same but E2180 runs cooler. If you are going to use dedicated graphics card, go for E2180 and if you want a CPU for Integrated Graphics go for AMD Athlon 64 X2 5000+ because most of the 780G/790X chip-based AMD-compatible boards offer superior IGP.

The pentium d 915 is a dual core processor, albeit a bad one. You should check google for info on your motherboard to see if it supports Core 2 duo's/ Core 2 quads. I have an E6600 overclocked to 3.0ghz and it still plays games perfectly paired with my 8800gt 512mb and 4gb's ram. I definately recommend upgrading to a core 2 duo. I used to have a pentium d 915 and it was bad for gaming and the e6600 blows it out of the water. You most likely wont find the e6600 anywhere as it is nearly 3 years old. Look at sites such as toms hardware to find a good core 2 duo.
Good luck- an t-adh leat!

none im sorry to say but the intel pentium m 1.6 is similar to a dual core it is like a 3.2 pentium 4 in a laptop with 2mb cache i have the evo n610c and it is the best processor i found compatible and it does not heat up like the pentium 4 processor does allowing it to be tweaked a little if you max out your ram and know a little about modifying your pc for any more questions or concerns feel free to call main street pc in plymouth nc (my company) google it and i can get the processor and install it for you pretty cheaply
