Question about Palm Z22 Handheld

1 Answer

I recently had a hard drive fail and after installing a new drive and all my software in trying to upload data from my Palm Z-22 to MS Outlook (the conduit is set for that) I cannot get the touch screen to respond at all. It is locked. I did a soft reboot but that did not work. I need to upload the Palm's data into Outlook. What can I do without losing my data?

Sorry, I do not have the data backed up that was in Outlook that's why I cannot do a hard reset. Nothing wrong with cable either. What else can be done?

  • cahiggins Jun 19, 2009

Sorry, I was too busy to follow up on your last suggestion. I have no idea what a "digitizer" is or a "digitizer cable" for that matter. As I said I cannot afford to lose the data by doing a hard reset.

Chances are that the digitizer cable is loose, it might have been disconnected when you installed the new hard drive, open it up and double check that all cables on the display are connected properly.

You could try a hard reset, since you do have all the data backed up on the computer?

if that doesn't solve the problem its possible that the digitizer on top of the lcd screen is faulty or the flex cable is cut or bent badly.

Let me know if you need further assistance.
Thanks,
Ekse

Older palm products and vista aren't compatible. You either needs to transfer info via bluetooth or upgrade your palm if you wish to continue using vista.

Have you downloaded the outlook Conduits? Have you downloaded the outlook Conduits from the CD? I had a similar experience recently to discover that I hadn't completed the installation. Hope this helps

Tungsten E and Outlook 2003 sync problem

yes I moved my files to a new machine and reinstalled palm (which of course also created the dreaded multiple copies of many palm contacts, when palm discovered older archives, but that is another story!) I wouldn't mind that if the palm pilot would just sync with outlook 2003. It synched with Outlook 2000 on my old machine.

How do I transfer Palm m105 data files to MS Outlook

You supplied very little detail here on what you are starting with and what you hope to finish with. Are you synchronizing today and where does the data reside on your PC - in Palm Desktop? If you have all your data in the m105 and wish your Contacts, Calendar, Tasks and Memos to synchronize with your Outlook profile, then install the Desktop software that come with the m105. You will be given the option to synchronize with MS Outlook during the installation. Choose this. The data in your Outlook profile (root level folder only) will merge with the data inside the m105.

Can you change from Palm to Outlook on your Treo 600

Simplest method for 'switchers': Assume that your Treo 600 has the data you need (it does but you are focusing on your Palm Desktop in your question). Install the Palm Desktop software again using the CD but this time, choose the option to synchronize with Outlook during the installation process. This will switch the synchronization to Treo <-> Outlook instalead of Treo<->Palm Desktop. Assuming your Treo is recently synched with Palm Desktop, this will merge the data you have in the Treo with that of your Outlook profile.

How do I switch from HotSync with Palm Desktop to HotSync with Outlook?

I have a T5 and assume it's the same, but try putting your software install disk in your new PC at work. One of the options is to change sync with Palm Desktop and Outlook.

Sync fails with "too many open databases"

This is what I did to fix that error:

Hard-reset your Palm to erase all data (that usually involves pushing the small "reset" button on the back, then pressing the "power on" button until the device boots, and then pressing "up" to confirm the hard-reset)

After that, sync your palm. The sync software will ask if you want to use your existing profile or create a new one. Create a new one. Then the program will offer to sync your Outlook profile with your Palm. Click on "ok", and a message asking you to accept to sync your Outlook data with more than one profile will pop-up. Click on OK, again... and that's it!
