Picture is locked on card

A few pictures have been locked on my card so I can't delete them. I wasn't the one who locked them and I can't figure out how to unlock them. Nor can I find it in the instruction book.

Hi there
Make sure the write protect is off by taking the card out of the camera, face the card towards you, look for a small white tab on the left hand side of the card, to unlock it push the tab down, it will be at the side of the card like this Picture is locked on card - 59a6de4.jpg .

Hope this helps.

How to unlock a photo in camara

The protect function allows a user to protect a picture from accidental deletion. To unprotect a picture on your camera, scroll to the protected picture that you want to delete, then press the Menu button (the button to the right of the Play button.) Scroll down the menu and you should come to an option that allows you to Protect/Unprotect the picture. Since your picture is currently protected, deselect that option. You should then be able to delete the picture normally.

Alternatively, you could also format the memory card, however this deletes ALL photos and data you have on the memory card. If you are trying to completely clear the memory, this is the best way. After turning on your camera, simply press the Menu button, scroll to Setup, then scroll down to Format. Select Format, it will ask you if you want to format the memory card, or the camera's built-in memory. Format whichever one you want to clear, if you are using a memory card then your pictures are stored on the memory card. It will take a few seconds to format.

Hope this helps.

Look at your memory card. SD cards have a slide switch along one edge. The position farthest from the contacts locks the card, protecting it from writes. The position nearest the contacts unlocks the card.

Take the memory card out insert it into a card reader and connect to a system. After you have backed up all the data without opening the files on the mem. card right click on the card icon and select format . Choose full format option. This would erase all the files.

I have a Samsung SL720 and when i try to take a picture or try to delete a picture it says card locked. I have looked everywhere in the functions and can not figure out how to unlock it.

Most often the lock for those cards is on the card itself. On one of the edges there is a sliding lock. Push that to the other position and you should be good to go!

I am trying to delete a locked picture from my camera memory card but can't figure it out without my user guide. Don't know how it got locked in the first place.

You could take the XD memory and plug it into a memory card reader that plugs into a USB connector of a computer.. The computer should treat it like just another input with folders with JPEG files. Try and delete the screwed up picture. Lexar has made several different Universal card readers that I've had and I picked up an XD to USB adapter at Walmart the other day.

Says card locked when trying to take or delate a picture???

Your card is protected against deleting now... You have to get it out, just push it slightly, it will jump out of slot and then move small slider on right side of card to 'unlock' position. Put it back and enjoy.

Card Locked ! Error

Remove SD card, then whilst card is removed, delete all pictures that may still be stored in cameras 'internal' memory (usually just a few) then replace SD card. Should be unlocked now?.

XD card picture error

Try to use a card reader instead. They are only a few dollars. I use one all the time, and hardly ever will use the camera on different models I have.
Never delete from the PC to the camera. It can cause corruption. Once corrupted, you may lose all pictures on the card.
Always delete from the camera, unless you will format the card anyway.
Use the camera and try to delete the bad picture from the camera. this may fix the problem, if not, try to read from another camera or a card reader...don't ever delete from another camera or the card reader.

The last is not good, and that means to format the card, and you will lose all which is on the card.
You may try to copy to internal memory.

One more thing... take out the card. reset all in the camera menu. Then reset all the things you like. Put the card in and try to read each picture in play mode only. If one picture is very slow, delete it. This may take some time as corrupted files may read slowly. then try again.

Try formatting your card instead of just deleting.

Also make sure you are using either a Toshiba, Panasonic, or Sandisc memory card. Those are the only 3 that Casio has tested to use with their cameras.
