I should have mentioned if none of the suggestions work you may have a burned out speaker. The heat generated by the windshield dries the speakers out. I have had two speakers replaced in my Whistler 78 Pro in the last 5 or 6 years.

be aware the patrol cars change the bands to overcome the detection units on sale so that they can identify speeding drivers. Have you unit tested but if it proves ok then the changed band will be the problem. Over here they are using a combination of bands and infer red to detect speeders.
recent worldwide changes in radar technology means that detector technology is not always capable at detecting these mobile cameras, The only way to keep up to date with the newer technology is to constantly keep updating your radar detector. The only issue is they only have to make small changes to the cameras and the new technology won't work.
I have been used this Midland weather radio with S.A.M.E alert for last 2 years. My device works perfectly. My radio has sounded whether any tornado warnings and severe thunderstorm warnings. After reading your post you have to face some problems with your device, that during tornado warnings and severe thunderstorm warnings your radio not sounded. If you follow some steps then your issue will be resolved. Carefully review the manual. Or, it is possible that the NWS did not issue a warning for the storm. Warnings are issued for thunderstorms. If a storm is not expected to produce severe weather, a warning with an alert is not issued.
find a mobile speed trailer somewhere in a neighborhood just because it doesnt alert when you are next to a patrol car doesnt mean it isnt working 9 out of 10 the radar gun isnt on in the car or the gun is set to alert at a higher speed than what you are doing i always check mine at the mobile speed trailers that the cops set up in neighborhoods
This is because the Sunkyong Early Warning radar detector is an absolute piece of junk in terms of actual radar detection performance. It performance is dismal compared to any product manufactured by Bel, Escort, Whistler's higher end products, or Valentine Research. Let me guess -- you bought your Early Warning RD off of eBay.
