I have an HP Color Laserjet 4600. I am printing a large 46 page document with many graphics and photos. Randomly, a page will print without half of the picture or with words left completely off. I have...

In the printer driver's properties page, disable the bidirectional support.

Start => Control Panel => Printers =>
right click on your printer =>
Properties, under the 'Details' tab click "Spool Settings" and down the bottom you can choose not to support bidirectional support

Your step bt step may not be exactly that depending on your OS. For instance, in Windows 7, this setting is under the PORTS tab

Since you didn't specify what OS you are running, that's the best I can do for the moment.

Hello guys, i´ll be very

Issue Print jobs are stuck in the print queue (spooler) on a computer running Microsoft Windows connected to the print server. Nothing prints, and the print job in the printer's queue shows a status of Printing . These print jobs cannot be deleted even on the server, and it will not disappear or print until the Print Spooler service is restarted. Solution For Microsoft Windows Server 2003 and Microsoft Windows XP Professional x64 Edition, a fix is available in Microsoft Knowledge Base Article, The Print Spooler service may stop sending print jobs to a printer that uses the standard port monitor on a Windows Server 2003-based computer . Click here to view Microsoft Knowledge Base Article 934885 ( . To prevent this issue from occurring, disable the bidirectional printing support for each HP printer driver installed. To do this, perform the following steps:
  1. Click Start , point to Settings , click Printers , right-click the icon representing the printer to be modified, and then click Properties .
  2. Click Ports , click to clear the Enable Bidirectional Support check box, and then click OK .
NOTE: Sharing a printer over a network is a feature of Microsoft Windows and not HP printer specific.

How to turn off network notices on the photosmart c309. They pop up on every computer the network printer is installed on.

Turn off bidirectional support. This should be in the printer properties under the ports tab. Uncheck the "Enable bidirectional support". If the printer is through a print server, you'll probably need to change this setting on there, otherwise if it is installed on each computer as a direct IP print to the printer, you'll need to change it on each computer.

Esp 3250 just upgraded to win 7 and plugged printer to usual usb bu keep getting . warning bidirectional support disabled. never had a problem before

I just looked at the Kodak website and could only find the following reference - it is for windows xp but you could try and see if it will work with windows 7.

For WINDOWS 2000 and XP Operating Systems:
  1. Temporarily disable the Windows firewall:
    1. Select Start > Settings > Control Panel > Windows firewall.
    2. Disable the firewall and click OK.
  2. For WINDOWS 2000: Select Start > Settings > Printers. For WINDOWS XP: Select Start > Printers and Faxes.
  3. Right-click the KODAK EASYSHARE Printer Dock, and then select Properties.
  4. Select the Ports tab.
  5. Clear the "Enable bidirectional support" check box.
  6. Click Apply, and then click OK.
  7. Check for correct operation.
  8. Restart the computer.
Hope that helps.

Hi, I can print to a TEC B-SX4 from a windows 2000 print server, but if I set the printer up on a windows 2003 server it goes offline and refuses to print. Same drivers Seagull 7.1.1.

this is due to continuous polling by the driver.
You must disable the bidirectional communication in the tools tag ,driver options, network parameters.

Need wireless printer to work everytime i turn it on without trying to find new ways to make it work!

Are you using Windows? If so, when it boots (if it comes up clean then do this)
2) Check the status of the printer (enable, disable, offline, etc)
3) The one you want to see is enable or ready.
4) By the way,you want bidirectional 'ON' because your printer won't print correctly. (That's if you have a bidirectional printer)
5) If it is showing any of the codes in step 2, try and correct them.
6) If that doesn't work, check your printer for any loose wires or connections and check the wall outlet to see if it is plugging in correctly.
7) If that doesn't work, get your owner's manual out and see if you can ran a diagnostic test on it. Some printers have a built in program that will let you do this.
8) Last but not least, go to the website of the manufacturer of your printer, go to either FAQ's or knowledge base. Look for either an error code you have seen or description of the problem.

Hope I haven't confused you to much, I just recently retired from the federal government after working on computers for 22 years.
