It should be WARM, but definitely NOT HOT. More than likely, the unit may have a faulty transformer. Best to swap it out or replace it.

Marshall 210h After using 15-20 minute increasing hum louder to louder. and big tubes goes very hot and colour going full red . what would I do?

Possibly the tube heater power supply is faulty. It will need to be professionally repaired.

Other things to consider:

Faulty tube(s)

High frequency oscillation

The TYPICAL power supply might be similar to that on page 2 of:

Scroll down to "get manual" and click to download... ignore other dowload links on the page. You can use a free unzip program to unzip the RAR files.

Since your unit has "morning sickness" I think you will find a BAD siolder joint in the power supply... The supply is very simple and it takes a trained eye sometimes to see the little gray line in the meniscus of the soldering at a lead that indicates a bad connection. Tracing the +/- 15 vp;ts should be an easy task. Pay particular attention to heavy components and the leads of the three terminal regulator chips... I would look at the +15 volt one closely...

Txm20 samson ... unit wouldnt turn on... where is the fuse ?

if its not right next to where the AC power plugs in, or part of the power plug itself ( lil notch in cable recepticle that will allow it to slide out ) then it would have to be inside the mixer on the power pcb. ( the board the power cable connector is soldered to)

If it is new then something is a bit strange to say the least. Turn all the knobs to midpoint. If it is going to click/pop then you will definitely hear it. Switch to standby, then power to on for a minute then standby to on. You should then see the 6l6 and the 3x 12AX7's all glowing. Plug into each channel. Don;t use a pedal to try any of this. If you get a pop on on ch then it can be one side of the preamp either a tube or one of the op amps on the board.

Make sure you try out the cable/guitar on a different amp to make sure it is working. Could be a cable or plug that is the problem.

Honestly if this is new I'd haul it back to the store and return it. It should just work with no hassles. Once you know your guitar/cable is not the cause then I would take it back and get them to either set it up or replace it. Something is just not right here for a brand new amp.

I accidentally used the two outs (A & B) at turning on the pmp 5000 in the bridge mode. The mixer was normal during the first 10 minutes, then the mixer shut down and stop working, and now it doesn't...

Insufficient information ! Were you using a special cable used for bridged mode or used regular cables and just changed the slide switch to bridged mode? IF you had regular cables for A/B and just had the switch to the bridged mode NO DAMAGE WOULD RESULT. The bridged mode switch really only sets both amps to be driven from the same mixing buss as monaural. If you had a bridged cable and a plain one you would have overloaded one side amp. The amps have an "electronic" over current fuse and if you trip it you have to leave the power off for a minute or so and then re-power the amp. There is a HAZARD that I have written a tip in Fixya about PMP mixers. The sleeve of a 1/4 inch plug connected to side A is the HOT signal out of the amp as opposed to the B channel being the tip of the 1/4 inch plug...this assumes you might be using Speakon to 1/4 inch speaker cables. DO NOT under any circumstances use Speakon to 1/4 inch adapter cables as the barrel of the adapter female part on channel A is HOT to ground and you will pop the A amp.!!!! I am afraid that if you were using regular cables taht another failure occurred not related to the setting to bridged mode. The speaker leads for bridged mode are configured by the way the special bridged mode Speakon cable is wired... The slide switch only configures where the amps get there audio be it stereo busses or singly from one side. If after being off for a few minutes the amp still is totally dead, check the main power fuse which is alongside the power input connection in a plastic boat you pull out. IF THE FUSE IS BLOWN do NOT replace it as it will likely cause additional damage. Have unit repaired. There is a weak spot in these that results in arcing between layers of a multi-layer circuit board.

No power from amp outlets ..rest of mixer works fine

The amp module has likely blown. Repairs can be exetensive within the module. Try cycling the power as there is an overcurrent sensing in the amps that locks the switching signal off. Let the unit remain off for several minutes and retry it. This all assumes it has worked before and the cables are good. Also please read my tip on here about PMP mixers regarding a hazard on the A output when using Speakon to 1/4 inch cables. The A output s;leeve of a 1/4 inch jack is the HOT, NOT the tip of the plug, unlike the B output.

The amp plays fine for about 15 to 20 minutes, then an extremely loud, over powering hum/buzz takes over, and then the amp has to be turned off, but the problem persists. I've tried several guitars,...

You say the "tubes are fine" I take it that you have either replaced them with new or used a very sophisticated tester on them. A heater-cathode short might cause the symptom. There are a bunch of tests I would want you to run alnd get back to me with the results.

Heat up the amp but DO NOT play anything into it for the usual failure time or more and they start to play i... did hum occur WITHOUT playing? With all volume controls down does the hum occur?

The right tools is an oscilloscpe to fing out if the filter caps are good. These are C31, C33, C35, C36.

With hum present in failed stater, plug in a grounded plug into the power amp in jack... if hum is stiil there, check the +/- 16 volts regulating Zener for ripple. get schematic here:

Probably NOT a transformer. Most likely in the power amp. Many have a thermal cutout that shuts the thing down when the chip/stick gets to hot. Your description leaves some questions... IF you don't get anything at all out of the left, then look first for a short from the amp to the output jack. This probably has a dual chip amp in it and half that chip may be bad heating up and shutting the whole thing down.

I want you to do a test. while using the amp plug a pair of headphones into the preamp out... note you will only hear stuff on one side if they are stereo phones and the sound may be fairly weak... while the unit is operating correctely then unplug phones and use it. When it fades out plug in phones compare the level when it was OK... If the preamp output fades lower as well, then we know problem is in the preamp section...

We can do a lot of troubleshooting without opening the amp.

I see nothing in the scheamtics that should be an issue causing this...

Since it didn't fail for the tech, think "what was different?". Are you connecting something else? Foot pedal? Temperature? :Loudness of playing?

Now what else is in common to these two units... AHA! The guitar...

If your guitar has a battery in it, the 20 to 30 minutes fading would correspond to a battery failing and then recovering after you unplug the guitar for a while.

I don't have a Variax but it sounds like an IC (integrated circuit) inside the guitar is getting hot and until it cools down, it does not function properly. Try the Line 6 website to find the nearest repair center. Good Luck!
