Also, make sure that the vent for the fuel tank is working. the vent is either on the fuel cap itself or thru a device commonly known as a duck bill valve, so named because of the shape of the valve. All the vent does is allow a slight amount of air to enter the tank while the trimmer is running.

Gas leaks out around the gas cap when trying to trim anything above horizontal level. Replaced the gas cap and it did not fix the problem

most likely not the cap but the grommet around the 2 fuel lines at the top of the fuel tank
easiest fix is a new fuel tank that has the lines already installed

I replaced the fuel lines on my Husqvarna 128LD and they are now leaking, is there a seal or a grommet of some sort to help seal it at the tank? I don't recall any when I pulled it apart.

Some fuel tanks will have a black rubber grommet that have holes for the fuel lines to go into, if your holes are in the tank itself, then no, there's no grommet. And if that's the case ,your lines are not the correct outer diameter. There are multiple sizes of fuel lines. In my shop I have multiple sizes, if you don't have that kinda stock, you're better off either ordering the ones of a parts drawing of your model or simply take your unit and old lines to the closest small engine shop and have them match em up, u actually can just bring the tank with ya.

Gas leak at grommet on gas tank where gas lines enter and leave tank

Yes you should be able to replace the rubber tank seal that the fuel line goes through. Be sure to replace the fuel line(s) when you do.

Fuel leaking carb overflow

Hello Brian,
I would visually inspect fuel lines entering/leaving tank that go to the carb. These tend to get brittle and crack. Also, some models have a rubber grommet that the fuel lines pass through entering/leaving the tank, these too get brittle and crack. If that looks good, you may have a stuck needle in carburetor and it will need to be removed and serviced. Hope this helps. Good luck and happy wrenching!

Your grommet might be bad or you might have gotten the wrong size fuel line.

My 89 nissan 240 sx fuel EVAP failed the smog test

The carbon canister may saturated. If you are one to try get as much fuel as possible into the fuel tank, that may be how it happened.

Also check the gas cap. There is supposed to be a one way valve to allow air to enter into tank, but not vent out in any direction but by the vent hose to the carbon canister. That valve may be leaking. Also, there is a purge vent to the intake manifold, check to make sure that passage is clear and not carboned up.

Engine light on smell fuel gas dripping under fuel tank

Engine light on can be a lot of different things. But first, fid the gas leak! The fuel line is a combination of steel and in some places rubber lines. It is likely that the leak is in the rubber part of the line. The tank is usually protected under the vehicle by a steel plate that first must be removed on Jeeps. I don't know what part of the car the gas is leaking from, but if it near the tank at the back, its is probably where the line comes from the tank or where the filler pipe enters the tank. You will just have to get under the vehicle with a flashlight and look to see exactly where the gas is coming from. You may have to remove the bolts holding the tank cover on, it is heavy, so you might want to have a floor jack under it with a 2 by 2 foot piece of plywood between the steel plate and the jack. That way you can lower it to the ground safely. Do the same thing with the tank. You will have to disconnect the fuel filler hose before you can let the tank down. There is a clamp at the tank that hold it on. Look for leaks and replace the hose that is leaking. This is a critical issue. Gas and hot exhaust pipes can set this off into an inferno. Now back to the engine light on. A gas leak can cause the light on because it may show up as an evaporative system leak. It's like leaving the gas cap off. If you want a better idea of why the light is on, drop by an Autozone or Advance auto store and they will usually hook it up to their code scanner for free. Without the code readout you have to just guess at the cause for the light.
