I have a blackberry 9630 with a new battery in it and it won't turn on and there is a battery with a red x in it what is the problem

remove the battery and try to reboot again if it still fails buy another battery the one you are using is dead.

update the software of black berry

Try to insert any password in your phone 10 times to erase all your data and make your blackberry Tour 9630 unlocked. If your keypad still won't work after blackberry unlocking process, try to reflash your blackberry phone. Once again if still have same result, it should be a hardware problem in your phone and you need to repair that on nearest local mobile phone repair shop.

You have to be very careful how you charge new batteries.
If you charge then for more than 3 hours, you might end up damaging the batteries and charging it for 24 hours, is also likely to cause problems for the battery.

You may have gotten the battery wet - either through direct contact with liquid or condensation. Open the back cover and check to see if the little white sticker has turned pinkesh/red.
