Error code 4C00:5022 after dropping my Inspiron N5050

I would like to try fixing it myself. Where do I start?

    have you tried reseating the hdd and the ram, its very easy to do and i would suggest this being the first thing to attempt,

    this is for upgrade but you can use the same to reseat, hope this helps

I am not certain about that laptop, but I'll bet you've trashed the hard drive. They are somewhat fragile. You might try going into setup (F1 or Del during post screen on most machines) and see if the bios recognizes the drive. If not, a damaged drive would be my best guess. Replacements are available on-line, at Fry's, and computer stores. I hope this helps you.

That code is a Windows boot error. I'm not sure what you can do with the Dell OS media stick but the traditional solution with a regular hard disk is to take a Windows 7 OS disk, boot with it, and run startup repair. Here's a link to Startup Repair: Startup Repair Microsoft Windows

I Googled for a solution online

Solution 1: dell.com support requires owner ship proof and i don't have it.

Solution 2:www.dellpasswords.com website seems to have the password, and i will try that.

I never heard about a Universal password. Remove the CMOS battery, wait about to minutes, reintall it and it should reswet bios and you should have access to your computer

The only way of retrieving any files from a password protected hard disk without knowing the password is to send it to a data recovery company for unlocking, but not all data recovery companies could or would unlock a password protected HD

Dell inspiron n5050 no power on


very likely your main board is gone. Get help from local computer store to fix the computer. It could be your charing port or even your ac adapter, Make sure use another ac adapter and see what happens.

My dell inspiron n5050 automatically hibernates after booting


on start up togglr F8 key when screen comes up choose start in safe mode once it gets to main screen right mouse click in center of scren pick personalize click on screen saver and go to change power settings and see what hibernation is set on and set it higher restart and see if problem is solved
