My Elnita 245i is squeaking when it goes forward, but not in reverse. Ive oiled inside the needle mechanism and bobbin case areas. No change. It is also breaking top thread after 6 inches

..

If your machine is mechanical (not computerized), it could very well benefit from a good cleaning and oiling, including the internal mechanical movement. Squeaking could be the feed dogs but could be a multitude of places.

When threading the machine, be sure to ALWAYS raise the presser foot. The fact that the top thread is breaking about 6 inches into the sewing indicates that the thread is catching somewhere. Sometimes, it catches on the thread notch on the thread spool. Other possibilities is that the thread is looped around something, ie the spool pin, a thread guide... Remove the thread entirely from the machine and rethread from the beginning.

Elnita 130 sewing machine is weak when starting

So, the motor is straining to run the machine? Your machine is mechanical? Then, the old oil has most likely solidified and is preventing the machine parts from moving freely. Do not force the motor until you can get the issue addressed or you may burn out the motor. The following method has worked on several old Berninas that were seized:

Wheel on right side that controls the needle up and down is very tight...

Singer model MZ deluxe dress maker. #06899 teal and white. My husband oil the motor trying to help. I have now read that is a no no. How do i get the oil dried out?

Probably the best thing you can do is find a manual for your machine and follow the maintenance instructions. Some older mechanical machine motors do need oiling, so don't panic yet. The other thing is what kind of oil was used and where was it applied? AVOID using 3-in-1, WD-40, cooking oil, or old stinky sewing machine oil.

Some older motors have brushes and belts that should not be oiled. If the motor has been damaged, you'll probably just need to bite the bullet and perhaps have it serviced. Wiping out excess oil may or may not help.

Hello! I'm a beginner at sewing and recently inherited an Elnita 130 sewing machine. Does anyone know how I can find a manual for this? I have searched a number of websites selling sewing machine...

You can check this out. Doesn't list your model, but it is most likely similar to the 120 and 140. Usually, the only difference between one model and the next is one will have a few for stitches or added functions. The basic operation is probably the same:

Two drive belts for an Elnita 150

I have an Elnita 150, too. It takes the same belts as for Elna (although this isn't true of ALL parts). I don't recall the size of the upper drive belt, but the lower one -- which I replaced 2 days ago -- is 9-7/8". George at sewingmachineparts is really helpful, or your local sewing machine repair shop should have the belts on-hand if they service Elnas.
